Amusing, but I'm not really sure exactly what it's getting at. They didn't have viruses totally under control in 2002, and the problem doesn't seem totally out-of-hand in 2012. I'm not really sure what's changed, apart from a proliferation of mobile devices and a trend towards more government-sponsored bespoke viruses (but those are targeted at very specific groups and individuals; most people won't see them). Malware is getting more sophisticated, but so is AV.
Also, if you're the sort of person who is willing to learn Linux, then ironically you probably don't need it to stay safe, unless you have an insatiable appetite for warez/porn sites and can't be bothered scanning any of it.

Even as tough Linux is. They don't seem to be taking any chances.

I wonder if I should run a virus scan on my computer again sometime.
It's been a while. So I guess viruses are making a comeback?

Apparmor is standard on many distros, like Ubuntu. SECCOMP and others are added too. This is common for major general-use distros.

Yup, I read about that in the Metro, luckily my computer looks fine. The Canadian government set up a site that checks for the DNS-modifications' prescence on a computer (I may have got that wrong I'm not expert
)... there probably should be an American site too, considering it is the FBI who will be dealing with it.
