KALI and Descent 2/D2X?

Post by Diedel »

I have just launched KALI and had it scan for games on my HD. It found all my Descent 2 variants, including D2X, but they do not show up in the games list. Am I doing something wrong? If yes, what and how to fix it?

its been a long time since ive played d2 on kali, but i'm pretty sure the games list is only for viewing games being played right then, and there probably just werent any d2 games.

that sounds about right.

You will have to go to a server (preferably a descent server ...#539) an start a game.

Diedel:

The new version of Kali (2.613) does not seem to put any game
icons in the bottom of the browser after you selected the ones that you wanted to appear.

Log onto any server in kali then right click in the area where the icons should be. Left click on Configure then browse to your exe file. Make your other selections and you will be set.

Diedel, which games list do you mean? If you're referring to "Internet Games," Descent or Descent II are not listed there, as they are LAN-emulation only. To see the games that Kali currently detects on your system, click "Game Resources" and then "My Games." If D2 isn't listed there, then re-scan for games. Make sure to leave checked any games you wish Kali to scan for. Any currently running D2 games will be located in the "Lobby Games" folder. You can start your own lobby in this folder.

hey bubba, get that anal retentive stick our of your ass. Do you always have to be a bastard when replying?

Why can't you just answer in a nice tone?

If you can only answer tha way you do, I'd suggest just to keep your trap shut.

Diedel, as for D2 and Kali, log onto any server. Then once you have kali scan for games, the icons WILL show up. Mine did. Then you can right click the icon and configure them. The game Lobby is meant only for games being played that instant.

SOOOOOoooo THarrrrrrr! ;)

er.. Pika!

A little late, I know and I didn't read your post well the first time. Kali will find every instant of a game .exe on your system if you let it. Just check and see which it is you want to use and delete the rest.

Right-clik on the game icon to configure. you can manually add a game if you want. Descent is about the only game you will use from these icons. The rest normally use TCP. For those, you can use "create a lobby" function then join via direct IP.
