neat

I love that part in The Time Machine movie where they show the sun's path as a solid line.

(i'm sure i've talked about this before, but 'tever)

it reminds me of how the large ships are internally lit in the Culture series, a band of light that slowly moves across the sky every day.

Been trying to figure solidify an idea for a while now, on howto reproduce the effect IRL from outdoor time lapse photos. I'd love to have a video with single days as single frames, so you can watch the line of the sun ebb too and fro with the seasons. The moon too i guess, perhaps in a different video though.
But i'd like for the shot to include the landscape as well, so i'd have to be implimenting some kindof HDR, which would hopefully only add to the surreal nature of the resulting video. I guess the scenes would end up lit with a kindof soft ambient light with no hard shadow edges, all surfaces looking kindof matte?

(also "the sun ebb too and fro" is a phrase of 5 3 letter words and that's kinda neat)

ooh, check this one out. They must have taken a photo every few hours (every 2 hours maybe?) on-the-dot for a whole year, so you see multiple analemma.
I've been trying to find a nice animation showing how the shape of the resulting analemma changes as you change the time of day, or the location on Earth. But am having no luck.
