Liquid War (2002 freeware game)
you have got to try this game out. it almost seems to use "liquid physics". basically you lead YOUR liquid to eat all the other liquids.
kindof think of it as war of teh blobs, only one blob survives *burp*.
it's so crazy cool and simple, and looks quite pretty while you're playing it. damn hard to explain, basically it's "liquid war", uh... PLAY IT, you'll see .
(3 meg download)
ok here's a screenshot
in this screenshot i'm playing with 2 AIs, i'm RED. see the bars on the right, they indicate who's winning/loosing. your liquid is attracted to your coloured ring (which you move with teh arrow keys), if it comes across another liquid it will try to eat it, and assimilate it. your liquid army is actually made up of thousands of little PIXEL soldiers, all acting and fighting individually. very weird strategy.
did i already say to try this sweet thing? oh yeah i did
.... argh can't stop playing

Hum. That's kind of fun... it sure doesn't give you much time to react when the game starts though. "Get ready.... okGOhahayou'redead."

drak you can adjust the speed.
so what's your strategys ppl?
when you imagine that each dot is an individual soldier, it's kinda cool.
i try to spread my soldiers out as much as i can. soldiers behind your front line (ie: doin nothing, just waiting) don't do much good (the only good they can do is heal eachother). so if you have a bunchup of liquid, try to spread it out so you are attacking from more sides at once.
basically, the best place to be in is completely SURROUNDING your enemy and attack from all sides inwards.
remember that a liquid will only eat other liquids in it's path, so use this to your advantage and try to get your enemy RETREATING because this allows you to eat him without being eaten yourself, and you'll eat fast this way.
also be wary of where your enemy is attacking, and try not to let him eat you while you are retreating.
this game would be great for young kids, to get em really thinking. yeah bontago is great, so is triptych. and i'm finally gonna download gish, thx (i thought it was a platform game).
(edit: gish IS a platform game, but with liquidy physics, very nice, you can see why it won awards. is there anything these chroniclogic guys do badly? bridgebuilder, triptych, now gish)
