The Moon wouldn't work(nice place to visit but....). Seriously, if you read what this guy wants to do, you would need the heat and the nutritional elements for agriculture, and Mars just works better than the moon. Plus, the gravity thing with the moon, while fun to bounce around, might be tough to deal with long term.

In many ways the moon is easier, would gain us valuable experience and a nice jumpboard for further projects.
Bottom line is to get things going, if he pulls Mars off -- more power to him !

I doubt if any planet without a magnetic field could ever sustain long term colonies. I mean eventually, you’re going to want to live outside those suits and domes, and even if you terraform Mars, you still couldn’t live out in the open.
If you wanted to live in a suit, or under a dome, you could do that right here.

Well it seems USA wants to put a station at the La Grange point on the dark side of the moon. Plans are already in place.Grendel wrote:May want to start a bit closer to home, the moon eg. ...
As to the Mars endeavor, It will all go smashingly until a colonist filled ship blows up on take off or gets lost en-route.

No way I'd want to move to Mars. Can you imagine what sort of lag you'd get while trying to play a game?
