Are we trying to kill each other?

I read somewhere that, people don't change their minds. They die and become new people.
This quote I'm plagiarizing makes me think about how we debate on the net.

Sounds like something from Romanticism, obsessed with death
.
Depends on how you define "people" i guess. Is a person merely a sum of their opinions? The same warm body lays next to you on the bed regardless, still feels the same.
Anyway - the "person" you are right now, will not exist in 1 second. You're never static, never. Why mourn the passing of something so frivolous, fresh oxygen, dead skin cells, old mental patterns.
Some big paradigm shifts will have a cascade effect throughout other aspects of your life, vastly changing "you as a person" (ie: your mind).
So, yeah, it depends on how you internally define "people". If all people are to you is foreign opinions, then sure - life's a slaughter-fest, also i'm actively suicidal.
But there's more use to a person than just their opinions.

I think that life on earth is hell, and that if you are living on the earth at the moment, you were here once before and that you were reborn to pay penance for the sins from your past life/lives on earth. You don't get to leave earth until you make up for your mistakes of those past lives. Rinse, wash, repeat until clean.

The body in your bed is still warm? That's kind of creepy....like how can you be sure it's dead?
