This one may well be a winner:

"With a weight of about 800 pounds, Mercier says the largely composite tandem two-seater should be able to reach 80 mph on smooth surfaces and accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in less than 10 seconds. The target price for a production version is $30,000,"

That is pretty cool, but what I want to know is what happens when you're slipping along a 80 mph and you have to do a sudden avoidance maneuver? Hovercraft aren't very steering responsive at high speed.
