From the above linked article:
The Northern framers of the Fourteenth Amendment and the first Civil Rights Act viewed gun rights as fundamental to upholding the constitutional protections of the freedmen.

It's like you didn't even read the article. You just honed in on the one thing you wanted to reassure yourself with. Talk about confirmation bias. You are ridiculous.

Considering you have no prior knowledge of mine and Slicks private conversation, nor how could you, I'll just let you continue being stupid. I'm sure Slick got the point ;)

So the NRA started out as a country club for sport shooters who were scared of the black militant. It was willing to turn a blind eye to the big picture because the black guys scared them. Then they had an internal fight for the organisations direction....sport/hunter social club OR gun rights advocacy. The gun rights group won and recognizing the ease with which the politicians had launched gun control on a whim they kept the focus on gun rights.

Reagan changed his mind about it, maybe he saw the light, maybe he saw the potential campaign money, just in time for the groups endorsement for President.

And as we know, since the political parties love to polarize the voters the NRA was adopted by the conservatives therefore the liberals began their public relations war against the group. the group went on to become a very effective and powerful political lobby for gun rights.

future stories may include 'the resurgence of importance to the american political scene for the NRA in the wake of liberals over reaching in an unpopular attack on gun rights under the guidance of President Obama'.

Considering your irrationality is bordering on (and perhaps full-blown) diagnosable by the DSM-IV, maybe you should just stop talking.

What a couple idiots you guys are. Somebody destroy your minecraft yesterday?

EDIT: You know, I'm not gonna let your unfounded personal attacks offend me this morning. I realize you have to have somewhere to vent and if that has to be me, then go right ahead. You can't help your a little high-pitched in real life and if it keeps you from going off by releasing a little steam here, then by all means, go ahead.

Yours tried to say NRA was pro-gun control when it came to Black Panthers. Said it right in the head line, portraying them as racist. Whereas mine portrays them working together.
The new NRA was not only responding to the wave of gun-control laws enacted to disarm black radicals; it also shared some of the Panthers’ views about firearms. Both groups valued guns primarily as a means of self-defense. Both thought people had a right to carry guns in public places, where a person was easily victimized, and not just in the privacy of the home. They also shared a profound mistrust of law enforcement.

I did, if you check, state that the headline was very misleading. The text of both articles is rather similar, however.
