I am having a lot of trouble with the boss on level 20 of D2. He is immune to normal missiles and I run out of energy before I can kill him. I have tried cheating and run through my energy twice over before killing him. Can someone give me some pointers on how to kill this boss? I would really appreciate it.

Shake it baby !

Try and Gauss him to death. Dont use weapons like Lasers or Plasma. Use only Vulcan and Gauss and trichord a lot to dodge his attacks. Since you asked this, you gotta be playing on at least Hotshot difficulty because he's cake on Rookie and Trainee.

Make sure you have patched D2 to version 1.2 or later.

In unpatched D2 there's a bug that makes the level 20 boss (I think) impossible to destroy on Ace or Insane, and the final boss impossible to destroy on Hotshot, Ace, or Insane.

If you've done this... then I'll have to actually go look up which one the level 20 boss is and what to do about him.

I have version 1.2 and he is immune to gauss and most missiles. Only energy weapons do any damage. I finally got him with the helix. My energy lasts long enough and there are enough invis spheres to make it happen. Now, I am just trying to get out of there with stats worth mentioning.

As for the person who said he was easy, I would have to ask what difficulty level you played, that he was so easy. I beat him like an unwanted step child on one of the easy difficulty levels but playing ace is a whole different ball game.

Smart mines are kick-ass energy weapons too.

IIRC, level 20 boss takes damage only from energy weps like plasma and laser. Also, there is a switch in the exit tunnel that you hit (before entering it) which gives access to 2 nearby shakers.

fire a shaker so that it strikes the wall behind it. the bomblets need to hit it in the green pulsing engine in the rear. That is the only vulnerable part of the whole bot. Shooting it with your guns will work too, it's jsut much harder.

This refers to the level 24 boss, not the level 20 boss.

Earthshakers are good on just about any boss except level 12 and 16.
