In Boston right now. I tell ya what, they seemed to have identified the suspects of the bombing pretty fast. In a world that's not CSI, I'd say it's pretty good policework right now. I hope those guys get the skin peeled off and dusted with fine salt.

Yeah it's sounding more and more likely that the suspects in whatever's going on with the MIT shooting are the actual guys. This is nuts.

Yeah, there's a difference. With torture, sometimes you survive.........painfully.

I don't think there's necessarily anything inconsistent with being legally against the death penalty but wishing for the death of some specific individual who has committed a heinous crime. I'm legally against the death penalty because I distrust the government with that much power, especially given their less than perfect accuracy record with the practice. But if we had a perfect criminal justice system, I don't think I would have any ethical problem with it.

There's also fantasy verses reality. People can fantasize some pretty nasty revenge scenarios, but the reality is that very few have the stomach to do it, fortunately.

Funny, I thought the only wish a class 1A Liberal would want in this case would be an apology by our government for whatever wrongs they did to cause these poor innocent victims to do such horrible acts.

I thought after the death of Bin Laden and Obama did his end zone dance exclaiming to all the world that AQ was all washed up and on the run, that something like this couldn't work. Well Cobknobbler, if you wonder why we distrust the left this little gem will show you how the focus will be:

(Reuters) - The two brothers suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings, who police say engaged in a gun battle with officers early Friday after a frenzied manhunt, were not licensed to own guns in the towns where they lived,"

The article goes on by saying:

"But neither brother appears to have been legally entitled to own or carry firearms where they lived, a fact that may add to the national debate over current gun laws."

So somehow this will be further "proof" of needing even more strict gun controls. Sadly the Reuters article mentions nothing about how they could of got firearms, what the serial numbers may show or if they were part of a AQ cell from which they could of been supplied arms. I wonder when the light bulb comes on and these reporters understand the mass casualties were caused by bombs and that all the laws in the world would not of stopped these individuals from have firearms. So no problem letting a Muslim spend 6 months out of country getting trained by terrorists, no problem the feds failed to keep a eye on him and no problem with the bomber posting terrorist links on his facebook page. But heck, we need stronger gun laws to protect us from bombers.

Right here. And if you think our society is very tolerant of those who are not from the usual Anglo Saxon heritage, you're from another planet. Something made these 2 boys, who by all accounts had a very good life here, go bonkers crazy radical and destroy their young lives and kill and maim innocents in the process.

And to add insult to injury, some "intolerant" Republicans want to blame those same said immigrants for everything bad. So I've got to give a hand to Grassley and Rand Paul for their partisan knee-jerk responses against immigration reform because of the bombings by 2 Chechen immigrants.

TC, that comment I made about you needing to abandon the liberal dogma to be able to honestly examine the motives of the bombers, if in fact you were genuinely looking for that, doesn't in any way imply leftists hate America. It merely says that liberals often make 'victims' of perpetrators so as to deflect blame from the criminal onto some other group...capitalists, conservatives, etc etc.

Just like you are doing now by implying the bombers suffered intolerance from anglo Americans and that triggered their islamofacist-wannabe slaughter.
I don't think liberals hate America but they sure do like to exploit the deeds of those who do for political gain for the democrat party!

it's interesting....I was listening to that liberal bastion, NPR, the other day, when driving around the mountains near State College. They had a guest on, who is a prominent Muslim scholar, but who holds to the idea that certain Tribal Islamic cultures are simply not compatable with living in a pluralistic, modern society. He basically implied that US immigration policy has to examine in better detail(not some broad brush approach to all Muslims, all Asians, all Middle Easterners) the subculture from which persons emerged.
It is also worth noting(shocker alert for those who think I support the administration blindly) two other facts in this tragedy. First, US relationships with Russian anti-terrorism experts has been strained, as the administration feels the Russians to be far too harsh. Several weeks back, many of the Russians working in this country were pulled back to Moscow, in fact, although that wouldn't affect this case. It does, however, speak to a possibility that Russian intelligence might have been dismissed or overlooked. Secondly, the FBI apparently had these two brothers under surveillance for a while, then stopped when they returned for a visit to their native regions. Why, is a question someone at the bureau or AG's office has to answer, as simple laymans common sense indicates that upon returning, they should have had additional scrutiny, not less.

Oh, I'm not "making victims" out of these guys. They took their chosen path and now have to pay the price. I don't feel sorry one bit. But if you want to STOP these guys in the future, you need to examine WHY they are motivated to kill others they don't even know. If we can't take a deep look into Western Civilization's historical and present actions with Muslims as possible motivations for these guys, we'll never SOLVE the problem. For all I know, we will never be able to fix our wrongs in the past. Hate runs deep. If all you want to do to fix the problem is to imprison or execute every Muslim or Muslim wannabe that comes along bombing or killing people, go ahead if it makes you feel good, but it will probably keep going on forever.

But what I can say is that we're fortunate that most Muslims are tribal and localized, and THAT'S why we don't have an entire united Muslim state bombing the hell out of the U.S and Europe. If the Muslims of the world ever quit their infighting and tribal biases, and then came together as one strong united anti-western front worldwide, the West would be in a heap of doom. Damn I glad I'm old. What a scary thought.
