Two House Democrats are proposing that the next national park be out of this world.

Reps. Donna Edwards, D-Md., and Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, propose in the "Apollo Lunar Landing Legacy Act" that a national historical park on the moon be created to ensure the American landing sites are preserved for future generations.
SERIOUSLY??????
a national park on the moon?? first off I didn't know we owned the moon.
I'm sure people will be jumping in their cars and racing right over to camp out there. and we are paying these people

How is this a waste of money, unless you think that we're going to be setting up fences and visitors' centers up there?

Why not? We got there first, we paid the fare, we put down the first footsteps and flag, so it should be ours. It's in the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt, who explored this great country and gave us our many great national parks.

if this is the worst issue coming out of Congress, we are doing damned well. Unfortunately, it isn't.

It's probably pre-emptive, passive-aggressive style

Probably should have let China aboard the ISS, because, though still behind the 8-ball a bit, when they do get one of their own up there, it will be one of their own.

EDIT: Seems I'm a little behind the 8-ball too, last time I visited this subject it was only a conception, seems they have already realized it.

EDIT:"Coincidentally, that is about the time that the ISS is scheduled to be decommissioned. If both those things happen, China's space station will become the de facto new international space station," Kulacki explained in a recent post on UCS's "All Things Nuclear" website.-- Hmm, we'll see.

Plus, we're all stuck looking at that one side of the moon all the time. The Chinese might just put up giant LED and neon billboards shining in our faces proclaiming their sovereignty and superiority.

I support all dollars that go to Space funding. Did you guys know Descent is a game where you get to fly a ship inside a mine/lab on the moon? Pretty cool, huh?
