....as of today, the IRS will extend all tax benefits of marriage to legally married gay couples. This, of course, will trigger immediate lawsuits from couples in states not allowed to so marry, leading the SCOTUS to strike down such laws as unfair based upon the commerce clause of the Constitution, and the matter is settled. Moving along......

great. Marriage is a pretty silly institution anyway. It = legal papers. Why should anyone give a ★■◆●?

Sorry dude but marriage is one of the fundamental creations of humanity, that separated us from the other apes.

Look at bonobo and chimp societies, in either one either the males have all of the reproductive rights or the female does, marriage was the invention that gave both partners equal reproductive rights.

Yes, marriage has been reduced to silliness, but it didn’t start that way.


Edit…"Rights" also implies responsibilities in this context.

Slick: We can only hope... but I bet there's plenty more road to go. People need to re discover the distinction between civil marriage and religious marriage... in this country of separation of church and state I'm baffled by how tightly people are clinging to keeping the two tied to each other. (thanks cold war)
