Problem with D1X V 1.43

I'm getting back into Descent once again. But D1X V1.43 is giving me problems with my Radeon 9200 video board. Not matter what resolution I put it on the game skips frame. It feels like I'm playing on my old 386sx once again. I'm all most temped to put my old Voodoo 3 back in. Any solution to this problem.

There might be some command lines you may want to put in your D1x.ini file. Read my post on what to do for D1x matters. Hopefully this might fix your problem. oh, and for best results try not to skim

Strange I didn't see a D1X.ini in the zip file when I downloaded it. So I download D1X V 1.40 and it works better than the latest one. Where are you guys downloading D1X V1.43 that has the D1X.ini file in it? Because I got mine from Planet Descent and it does not have that file in the zip.

Just make one then.
All it is is command line parameters, and guess which parameters are used by default? None!

What Jeff said
The .ini file came with earlier versions of D1x, otherwise just open notepad, enter in the cmd lines that apply to you (Which all of those I have listed should be) and then save it as D1x.ini in your Descent folder. Should be as simple as that

Sorry for the double post but nothing changed. I played around with the frames and still the same problem. I should have mentioned this before. I get down to the reactor room in level 1 the game sometimes freezes or slows down even more. A few minutes in level 12 and 16 the game just shuts down. IĆ¢??ve tried this Windows 98se and Windows XP same damn problem.

In win98se you should just be able to use D1x v1.42 or 1.40c sans the opengl just fine.
Did you add...
-nicefps in the .ini?

I've tried every thing you guys said even the file MD sent me. V1.42 and V1.43 isn't wroth the time of day any more. The only problem I have with 1.40 the music doesn't play but I can live with out it.
Thanks any way.

Try running 1.40 with VDM Sound then. Search google for it and install it, then right click on the app and say "run with VDM Sound" and see if that enables sound.

Ok figured out the error in XP and got 1.42 and 1.43 working ok. But when I got to level eight I got this. Can this be fixed or should I just leave it alone.

I'd leave it alone for now...

Thats a glitch in D1x 1.43 itself, and unless you feel like downloading the source and compiling yourself....I'd leave it alone.

The music not playing after level 7 is a glitch in the Descent 1.0 ---> 1.5 patch. Dont use that patch, use the 1.0 ---> 1.4a then 1.4a ---> 1.5 patch and it will not happen.

Ah well I shouldn't push my luck then. It's just trying to get 1.43 became an obsession.
