The Bionic Man is here, almost. He was built to show off the latest in biomedical technology, but he's not autonomous........yet. But it's coming.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ ... useum.html

The Smithsonian Channel is going to run a show about him on Sunday night the 20th at 6:00PM.

Don't you mean the blue face of death?

Saw it in action on Sunday. The face they gave it really creeped out the guy they took the face mold from, and he has an artificial left arm and hand himself.

It couldn't be creepier than the Japanese sex bots they're trying to make in japan. Though, I'm not sure if they're sex bots, but I just assume they are because they're realistic robot females made in Japan.

I think "ha ha, made you google" should replace "ha ha, made you look". :P

Har, har. I got one better. I just figured out WHY they would even want to make a sexbot. That's the only way nerds can get some nookie. :P

I'm pretty sure all the nerds on this forum are getting laid.

Maybe HERE, but the assumption in general is that nerds can't get laid.

The movie Weird Science comes to mind. The nerds couldn't get laid, so they made their own female just to fulfill that fantasy. :P

I can't post the pics of the exact location here. You'll have to figure it for your yourself. I should be pretty self-evident. :P

Hehe, yeah, got to be somewhere huh? :P I'm thinking north!

Aren't you thinking "south" maybe? North would include the head, and you know most females get a headache at an inopportune time. So if they're making a female sexbot that is realistic, the headache routine would probably be included for just for realism. Of course, there might be a disable headaches subroutine for the desperately horny user. :P

This bot..well... the face.. falls into the catagory known as "the uncanny valley".

for a full understanding of what that is, watch This Extra Credits webshow (its only 7 minutes long).

In short, it means that as things look more human, humans that look oddly artificial, there comes a point where something inside us goes "EEWWWWwww"! on the other side of that "valley" is photo realism that looks nearly authentically human.

Watch the vid. It's way entertaining and pretty informative. This whole thing is explained in the first ...oh...2 or 3 minutes.

I can't watch that now (maybe later), but I'll tell you why we think it's gross. Have you ever seen a dead body? They look real, but they look dead. I think there's a part of our brains that go "death detected" even though the rest of our brain knows it's a robot.

Even putting a face facsimile on a robot is creepy. The eyes following you are what does it for me. It's watching you. Dee, dee.....dee, dee.....dee, dee........
