I can't remember the last time I dropped by, don't know why I did today... unless I was subliminally influenced by Dupers love of EGG NOGG!

Still convinced that eggnog is one of the most nauseating things on the planet.

Please stop spamming, Issac... it's getting annoying. I'm not angry, I'm just irritated by you.

No, lutefisk or surstromming has to be infinitely worse. Even Andrew Zimmern couldn't stomach the stuff, once he got past the smell that is. Fermented shmerfented, by any other name, it stinks to high heaven.

Wow, that was a precision-delivered shut-down (plus one too many commas).
I wouldn't call that spam. That's just Isaac being isaac. I though it was funny/cool, personally. This BB has an "ignore" feature. Use it.

Well bummer!
I just discovered (party through this season's eggnog) that I've developed an allergy to milk. ... that I've had it most my life and it was so mild I never noticed it. Now I'm breaking out in hives! o_0
Sooo.. ever eat toast without butter?

Damn. If it's just lactose intolerance, you might be able to get away with non-dairy substitutes, though I don't know what's out there for eggnog.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Can you still eat cake and cookies?

Well... I enjoy toast with jam, butter or no.
As for eggnog, I've never tried the stuff.

@TG and Issac-
TG, yeah. rice milk or something like that should be ok. I'm guessing it's probably something in the milk fat or proteins. So Issac, baked goods should be fine if they're cooked well enough.
By chance (or providence) I talked to a chef who manages our vending machines at work. Well, they're not vending machines, they're refrigerators with restaurant quality food. They're called Company Kitchen. He's diabetic and lact-intolerant. He recommended putting olive oil on the bread and toasting it in a toaster oven lightly and then sprinkle just a pinch of kosher salt on it. He says it's better than butter.
Gunna be an interesting road ahead. If you take out the 4 main things that saturate the American diet, it becomes very hard to eat anything that isn't prepped at your house. Those things being: salt, sugar, milk, gluten/grains. Nuts are another thing if you're buying snacks. Take a look in a vending machine and notice how much snack food uses some kind of nut or nut based oils.

Yeah, a milk allergy is apparently something completely separate from the more common lactose intolerance. I'd honestly never heard about it before now.
