Why do people say such things....

now, A didn't go off the rails until she turned Jesus white, but the B example is moronic from the get-go. What baffles me is that folks who, presumably, have lots of experience before the public, insist on making such idiotic remarks.

Because they're uninformed, uneducated morons trying to push their idiotic agendas.

and then, some of us wonder why the folks that live off Faux News, and fundamentalist outlets seem so woefully uninformed.......

Oh, Fox sometimes has some credible stuff. You just have to know how to pick the grain from the considerable amount of chaff being thrown around. :P

Obviously trying to keep Santa human instead of turning him into a flightless bird. As to Jesus, the left had to problem turning a hispanic into a white guy.

Now a elderly citizen who may be suffering from mental issues is on your list to ridicule? I hope I'm around to see what you post when you turn 80.

Suffering mental issues alright, but not due to age...

Because Pat Robertson has been anti-gay his entire life and this is just more of the same nonsense he's been spouting off for decades. Nothing to do with age.

Megyn Kelly now has a face-saving excuse. "It was just her attempt at "humor" and her detractors are just race-baiting. Uh, huh. No, she can't worm out of this one so easily. No take backs. She sure sounded dead serious to me when she b**ched and moaned about the very idea of a "Black Santa" to her guests. Even Jon Stewart commented on what she now calls her "humor" a couple of nights ago.

Stewart was funny as hell on the subject........as often is the case. He has so completely skewered the whole 'War on Christmas' thing by now as to make the Fox annual campaign a national joke.

That's why I made the comment at the outset that Megan didn't really go off the rails until she ventured into Jesus......let's face it, a storybook creation that lives at the North Pole and has a flying sleigh pulled by reindeer can be of any color imaginable.

Its amusing to see how Jesus can instantly become so important to all those who usually wish he and his followers were never mentioned out loud.
For a brief moment they became the protectors of his legacy!

You can paint his picture by smearing your feces on a canvas and demand a government grant to fund the placement of your 'art work' in a public museum but damn you to hell if you describe him as white skinned!

I thought St. Nicholas was the fourth century bishop from a place called Myra, which is now in Turkey. Most of the people living in Turkey don't have lily white skin. They're more Mediterranean, slightly darker skinned, in appearance. But hey, If Americans want to turn him into a fat white guy who now comes to represent all things greedy and commercial about Christmas, instead of honoring the also not-so-white Aramaic Jesus, for whom this holiday was intended, who I'm I to complain? :P

Yea, well…you’re kinda splitting hairs now tc…many different skin tones in and around that area, people have been migrating in and out of there for centuries.

But yea, the Santa we all know and love is basically a creation of Coca-Cola and a certain American artist. (or two)

Americans are too obsessed with race. Even a slightly off-white Santa gets a lot of people's undies in a bunch, especially at Fox. I'll bet if most Americans looked deep into their genetic past, they'd find that they were not as "pure white" as they thought. My nearest family history is a mix of British, German and Scandinavian. I'm sure there's more I haven't found, maybe even sub-Saharan African genes, but, so what?

I think it ought to be admitted that what gets people so worked up about Santa Clause supposedly not being white is that it's just a form of racial or anti-racial pandering. "We're not racist! Here! You can have the white in our Santa Clause!" I doubt many of those people would have a problem if they went to visit a black family and there was a depiction of Santa as a black man. At the same time, why should anyone have a problem with Santa being white? I don't celebrate Christmas, but as far as I know Santa Clause is originally European.

I've heard of people who are adamant that Jesus was Black. As far as I'm concerned when someone gets so hung up on skin color like that it just shows where they're coming from. Jesus was what he was, not what we want him to be to make us more comfortable. Who even gives a damn what his skin color was? All of us white people weren't even included in God's people until Jesus brought salvation to the gentiles. We were ★■◆● out of luck unless we decided to become Jewish and keep the law just like the Jews!

OK, I'll throw out this theory. It's been hypothesized that dominant Christian white Europeans and religious leaders through time depicted Jesus as a white man on purpose, all to foster and promote white supremacy and imperialism around the world. Sounds crazy, but it may have a smidgen of truth behind it.

I also remember when the Discovery Channel came out with this depiction of Jesus. Many Americans promptly threw a fit over it and called it heresy. If skin color is not important for the image of Jesus, why did a lot of Americans get angry when this representation of Jesus was created a few years back?
