hell, I think it sucks that Unemployment benefits and Food Stamps are not specifically guaranteed, but this is how divided government works.

Already posted that in the unemployment thread. But maybe he's finally getting pissed off enough to stand up to the children in the room and the big money bullies on the playground.

You mean stand up to the "children" who got elected to do a certain job by their constituents? Wow, I mean like that is unheard of in Washington. Whens the last time you called the Congressional Black Caucus children for some of their antics? Oh I know...you refrained because you might be called a racist

Forgetting about all those white nutcases you and other tea party types voted in? And yes, they were elected to do a job, but not trash the whole place like 2-year olds throwing temper tantrums. I only saw them destroying things out of spite, not improving things for EVERYONE.

um, he stood up to a small minority whose election indicates a desire by their constituents. On the budget agreement, for instance, 334 Congresspeople voted for the sort of rational compromise THEIR constituents sent them to get done. What Boehner did was FINALLY tell the 60 or so radical loons to go suck eggs and put them on notice that he wasn't going to let them drag the entire institution into the toilet. Find me one example, please, where the Congressional Black Caucus came remotely close to dictating the terms of any legislation.

I'm sort of disappointed at so little commentary from this group, which is a fairly bright and in-touch one. This simple step forward by Boehner, dramatics aside, may well shape the conduct and legislative achievement of the entire coming year. Coupled with the Senate deciding that individuals cannot stop Presidential appointments endlessly, this coming year might be FAR more productive.
