Suffer the Children

The following shows how the state, even on a local level, care more about what is due them than what is morally right. Seems if your parents owe the school lunch money, the school will rip the lunch out of the childs hands and let them starve instead of going after the parents. I thought we had a Fed. agency that made sure school children got fed...or is that only for welfare recipients?:

"A New Jersey mother says her fifth grade son’s school has repeatedly taken her child’s lunch and thrown it away over unpaid cafeteria balances -- despite having apologized for doing as much in the past."

Seems the schools apologies don't mean squat.

"Up to 40 kids at Uintah Elementary in Salt Lake City picked up their lunches Tuesday, then watched as the meals were taken and thrown away because of outstanding balances on their accounts — a move that shocked and angered parents."

So another school likes to do it en mass, not caring how many elementary kids are humiliated and go hungry. One has to wonder at how big a moron some of these school personnel are. I wonder how big a moron the taxpayers are who keep footing the request for ever more tax dollars when they hear, "It's For the Children"

oops...linkys

agreed......it's tacky, humiliating to children and a blatant case of punishing the child for the parental shortfall. Sad.

That's not sad, it's an outrage. Children, in school as in every other place of trust, must be given an example of decent and civilized behavior. If I were in charge there would be immediate dismissals.

"morally white", woodchip? Have we cornered the market on morality? :P

Normally I disagree with you on a great many things Thorne. But in this case, I can't agree more with you on this; and second, that last bit made me laugh.

no one, and I mean no one should have the power to take away someone's food, no matter the reason and especially towards children. To do so is abhorrent and borderline abusive.
