Orwellian Thought Police

Post by woodchip »

Well I guess Obamacare wants to expand it's mandate to cover mind control. Seems if you are a small business and want to get under the 50 employee threshold, you will have to certify to the IRS that you didn't fire anyone because of the new health care law. I guess the added cost burden of Obamacare is not to be considered in the health of the business.:

"Obama officials made clear in a press briefing that firms would not be allowed to lay off workers to get into the preferred class of those businesses with 50 to 99 employees. How will the feds know what employers were thinking when hiring and firing? Simple. Firms will be required to certify to the IRS – under penalty of perjury – that ObamaCare was not a motivating factor in their staffing decisions. To avoid ObamaCare costs you must swear that you are not trying to avoid ObamaCare costs. You can duck the law, but only if you promise not to say so."

gee, third post with same essential wording on this issue I've read in the last hour. Today's Conservative talking point, I suppose.

So you don't have a problem with loyalty oaths? You didn't mind the era of Senator Joe McCarthyism?

seems unenforceable to me.
Everyone has to watch the profit loss margins and decide how to staff their operation as those margins move.

How do they legally justify mandating someone keep too many employees on payroll?

I don’t know about the mind control crap, but there is no way that law could be enforced. I don’t even see how any such law would even be constitutional, a private firm has the right to adjust its work force to any market forces it sees fit. And I also doubt you could fit this kind of law under any worker discrimination category or such as well.

Mind control…lol…the Republicans are their own worst enemies.

And of course the Democrats are showing just how much they are addicted to controlling business, if this is true.

Damn control freaks…

Disclaimer…no I didn’t fact check Woody, and was burned in the past for not doing so, so if the law is in fact bogus, I withdraw my comments, in advance.

except that isn't in any way a loyalty oath. Merely certification, under oath(notarized, witnessed) that the employer is NOT attempting to skirt the law and is having legitimate issues around implementation. Loyalty oath? No more so than a review board is a death panel. Once again, the right apparently thinks they can make up terms and hope they stick. Sorry, it doesn't wash.
