varies from state to state, Thorne.....apparently, Indiana had a law that wedding ceremonies had to be performed only by those sanctioned to do so, and those people had to profess faith in some sort of deity. In most places I lived, ceremonies could be performed by religious officials, or by justices of the peace.

The Bible says that marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. If someone wants to participate without recognizing any spiritual significance, I don't see them as being any worse off after than before.

I wonder what the reasoning was for requiring only certain people be able to perform marriages. I presume there was a reason.
