Up...and...RUNNING.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm sure you got me past a bunch of pitfalls!

For the record, I've got this bastich going with an 80 MM fan bolted to the HS with an adapter (still waiting on my 'official' cooling solution.

I even installed Win 98 on it! I went to install my Win98 SE and couldn't find my original disk, and the backup I'd burned had encountered difficulties when a CD ROM drive blew up and scratched the coating off the back. Anyone got a spare they wanna give up cheap??

Now tonight all I need to do is install drivers, accessories and software...Oh and my voodoo5.

WHOOHOO!

Mobius, just STFU before i fly down there and stuff a depleted uranium bullet up your ass.

WTF is wrong with making copies of Win98SE installation CD's.......aside from RIAA......not a gawd dammed thing. many people that i have repaired computers for like having win98se, its easy to use, has tons more stability than Win Me, and the first Win98.....and they want to keep it installed so i got a copy of it from my College instructors. i also have Win2k Pro, Win2k Server, WinXP Home and Win98.

i also have ISO Images of Win95 on file, Win Image files for Win 3.11, DOS 6.22, DOS 6.20, DOS 6.0 and even the rediculously old GI BASIC programming language.

RIAA isn't Microsoft, Ace. They won't give a rats ass about you or anyone else burning Microsoft products :)

Actually, more than anything I think Mobi was amazed that anyone would want to waste a perfectly good blank disc to copy Win98 ;)

I could make a smart-ass remark about terrorism, the Patriot Act and Guantanamo Bay here but I won't.

Guys, shutup about the backup copy of 98. If he wants to use it, then so be it. Thats his choice, and its his computer to do with what he pleases. Did it ever occur to you that he may not have the money to pay the high ass price for XP Pro?

if he's asking for a backup of win98... umm...

its like loaning a Civic when you can easily give the guy an 300M...

Oh, I agree that 98 is a POS, but if thats what the guy wants then what's the big deal?

Ace you missed the point Xeon was trying to make all together.. RIAA is music, not software.

Actually, 98 has it's uses. And the disk was burned when 98se was new. Lots of things hate running on XP.

Boy did this post veer off topic...

Ace, he already has a working BACKUP copy. He wants a LEGAL CD. Stop skimming and read the damn post.

WA: You might want to check with MS and see if you can still get that CD replaced. You might have to pay for shipping, but its better than nothing.

My backup blew up and my original is in a box somewhere in my 110+ degree attic. I wonder if I can get MS to send me a replacement CD tho...

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

It's pretty funny to me that I'm making a 1.7ghz processor system into a retro-gaming box tho..

heh.

Futhermore, the post you quoted was made AFTER I made mine so you might want to look up the definition for skimming. N00b. :P
