Sara Firth, a London-based reporter for Russia Today, publicly resigned Friday in protest at the station’s coverage of the Malaysia Airlines crash in Ukraine.
"I resigned from RT today. I have huge respect for many in the team, but I'm for the truth," Firth wrote on her Twitter account. Firth later told the Press Gazette that the Russian channel's biased coverage of the crash was "the straw that broke the camel’s back for me."
While most members of the international community, including the United States, believe that the plane was likely brought down by pro-Russian separatists, RT has instead suggested the fault lies with the Ukrainian government.
"Yesterday when the story broke you get the kick in your stomach when you’re going to get the facts and it’s this huge story,” Firth told Press Gazette. “And I walked into the newsroom and they were running an eye-witness account of God-knows who the person was blaming the Ukrainian government, and it is such a volatile situation.”
"RT style guide Rule 1: It is ALWAYS *Ukraine's fault (*add name as applicable)," Firth tweeted.
Firth is the second RT reporter to publicly resign from the Kremlin-controlled network. During the Russian invasion of Crimea, in March, the Washington-based anchor Liz Wahlannounced her resignation on-air, saying she "could not be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashed the actions of Putin."

If Putin is as bad as all that, why do these people consider themselves safe making a public show/protest against him?

No Spidey, I think the OP does a pretty good job of ruling out that possibility.

Liz Wahl worked at the American division and Sara Firth at the London division, and neither were Russian citizens.

I would definitely wear a personal dosimeter after taking on Putin in public.

Obviously, we have a different understanding of the truth. We believe true that reporters see eye to eye on the scene. In particular, in the Ukraine. Sara chose to join the chorus of those who believe the truth seen on TV and read in the newspapers in London.
We wish her good luck.
Press-service of RT.
Hmm. Usually dismissal journalist is no reason for discussion in the press. This is similar to your own PR on the background of international conflict. And more so, if the dismissal of ordinary British journalist received a lot of publicity, then most likely, it had the support of the Western media. And most likely, it was a sting West, and when it ceased avail to provide anti-Russian propaganda, her dismissal was presented as a "fighter for the truth."

gotta love that line. The truth is what ol Vlad tells you to report huh.
We believe true that reporters see eye to eye on the scene. In particular, in the Ukraine.
as long as it's OUR eye that they see. PARTICULARLY in the Ukraine. We cant have anything but our version of the truth getting out.
still wont answer my questions I see . I'm not surprised honestly

at least the two women cited were westerners. The track record(VERY well documented) in Russia under Putin is that dissenting press voices get either killed, beaten or imprisoned.

You are sure that the same thing has not happened with the American journalists who were trying to make a truly independent point of view that runs counter to U.S. policy? Though I see that Western journalists are afraid to even think of to say that U.S. policy wrong

let me see Russian journalists and a state run media VS the rest of the world and free media on this story. HRM I think I'll side with the rest of the world.

you clearly have limited access to Western Journalism. Hell, in just the US alone, you can hear every side of every thing, half of it wildly exaggerated from either side of the spectrum. Throw in the range of European/South American/Asian sources available to any of US, with the exception of yourself, and one can literally locate reportage that would bolster ANY side of ANY subject(in fact, one of the problems over here is that folks tend to gravitate to, and stick closely to, only sources which confirm their preconceptions).

Yes. Fired by their bosses or targeted by the government and/or politically motivated whiners.
