Can't see the forest for all the trees....

Post by Will Robinson »

Someone made an app that let's users post their opinion on the safety of a neighborhood. If they find a place is sketchy they can post warnings for other users to benefit from.
It's called Sketch Factor.

Someone else thought that was a racist kind of creation.
Well.... with a guaranteed audience magnet like a charge of 'That's racist!' the media fired up the app and went out to discover what was up.

They got robbed.

I don't know if anyone has asked them if they found any proof of racism. I do wonder if they know what sketchy means now? Lol!

amusing story, but those sorts of neighborhood ratings are sort of goofy. Unless you have a large pool of participants, with no ax to grind against, say, a realtor, or homeowner in the area, or a business rival, the info is as sketchy as the neighborhood.

Slick, you can say that about any poll involving local people. The larger the participation rate, though, the more accurate the outcome.

exactly what I just said, woody.....I think that people using such ratings as a guide should be very wary. Frankly, I think putting out such 'ratings' is somewhat irresponsible.
