Texas has the best state song.

1. The lyrics: Other states tend to sing about their fields and soil/land. Colorado even sings about the weather (wtf?). Meanwhile Texas sings about being awesome. "Land? You mean our empire?"

2. The music: Every time I hear "Texas Our Texas" , I want to grab my guns and invade Oklahoma, conqueror it, then give back, because it's not Texas. Just about every other state sounds like stale bread or a 1985 Coca-cola commercial, not a proud song that inspires violent pride.

3. Texas

I can't blame most states, like Iowa is basically extra land between real states. Many states fall into this category of "extra land". Why would they have a memorable song?

Oregon sounds like it ripped off my high school fight song then made worse.

WTF, other states??

I'm not saying anything about that. I'm just critiquing music.

Well, you're one of a strange breed...

Which was my other reaction. Which kind of led to the one before it, I guess. It makes sense if you're me.
I don't live in a state, so I guess I don't really care beyond how it's a new way to tease Americans for their... american-ness.

I live in Oregon and I'm ashamed. Our song royally sucks eggs.

States don't just have songs, they also have animals. In Wisconsin for instance the official state animal is the Badger. Quite possibly the meanest little animal you could ever come across... When badgers move in, everything else moves out.

Well that's pretty standard when it comes to larger countries (in land area, not population :P) isn't it?

I bet Quebec has a provincial song. And I'd like to hear if it's any good.

So it seems some do, some do not. Sadly, Quebec does not. At least not officially, but there is an "unofficial" one:

Looks pretty flowery, bro.

I knew about animals and flowers and the usual stuff, but not about songs. Apparently PA's was declared in the 70s and seems like a generic alma-mater sort of thing. I've certainly never heard it.
