America the Blind

Since Foil locked the thread right when I was going to post this in, I'm going to put it here since it's germane to the previous topic. I've read the back and forth between some of the Americans here and the lone Russian who sticks around for a constant beating when he states his opposing opinion. WE need to take out our earplugs and listen to the world as a people, because whether we think those opinions are right or wrong, sigma's opinions ARE similar to what a LOT of the world thinks about the U.S. He's not alone people. Americans are insular and imperialistic, walking around with a big chip of arrogance on their shoulders.

Americans sitting around making jabs at the actions of other world leaders is weak theater, when WE'VE been the ones throwing our weight around like big fat bullies controlling the block. Maybe it's time Americans realized that our blatant imperialism and last several decades of invading countries with our moral wars of choice, all in the name of "spreading freedom", has pissed off the world so much that we no longer have a leg to stand on, even with our supposed allies. We long ago squandered and abused any moral authority we had and now we as a nation can no longer tell Russia or China or anyone else throwing their nationalism around these days to stop doing it, because we look like utter hypocrites whenever we open our mouths to complain about it. We've made the world bed we lay on, now we have to sleep in it. Case in point the other day in Turkey. Some people in that country really HATE us and I'm guessing there are more who do than we think.

TC you do know the term Ugly American was applied to us years ago. On the other hand did you happen to catch the Iraqi's dancing in the street when we helped pull Saddams statue down? Did you happen to catch all the Iraqi people proudly holding up their purple stained fingers? Did you happen to read anything about the schools and hospitals we opened up in Afghanistan? Do you think any of that would of happened if we would of remained insular? What do you think one of the reasons why WW2 started? Because we were out making a bad name for ourselves or because we choice to ignore what was going on in the world?

Cat, if you want to learn Russian, to enjoy Russian poetry in the original, you will get great pleasure. But some Russian forums you better never attend. Even the most vicious attacks here are a standard of ethics compared to Russians.

Those people are some of the radical Muslims we are at war with…we condemn anybody that behaves that way towards Muslims in this country…but they get a pass?

Why?

In my opinion, TC should be the first President of the United States - a woman.
P.S. When you become President of the United States, do me a favor and throw it in the trash Hillary Clinton.

And what have we gotten in return? Most of them still hate us in both Afghanistan AND Iraq. Sure, the Iraqi's danced in the streets....for a short while until things devolved into utter chaos because we'd taken the lid off of those long standing tribal rivalries that Saddam had kept under his iron fist. Then the chaos that erupted made US into a target because WE were the invaders and WE were responsible for the mess and WE couldn't stop it. How long were we there fighting the constant insurgency? Technically, 10 years, but I've noticed that we've had to go back because IT'S STILL GOING ON and getting bigger and nastier, so I guess we're still at war. Bush's never-ending war that never should have been started. If everyone over there loved us, they would have settled down years ago and quit shooting and bombing us and each other and been nice little happy campers. That's not the reality, is it woody? And you're forgetting that all those Iraqi troops we supposedly trained to protect the country, promptly dropped their weapons and ran at the first sight of ISIS. They weren't very loyal to our cause, nor appreciative, were they?

In Afghanistan, they hate us too. Schools can't stay open because the Taliban keeps destroying them. Hospitals? Forget it, they're a failure. 60 million dollars, poof, gone! We couldn't reign all that militant insurgency if we'd wanted, because there's a big segment of the population that just doesn't want Western intervention, no matter how much we force ourselves on them. Even the Russians failed at it. There's no gratitude for us coming in there, killing indiscriminately and generally making the U. S. look like evil occupiers. Don't forget, the South Vietnamese government absolutely hated our guts during the Vietnam War. We were just a tool for them to fight the North, nothing more. We keep pushing ourselves on people that don't want us or our western ways. That's arrogance.

Hell no. I've already got grey hair and I don't need more. Plus, I'd probably be a despot since I'm now testosterone dominant in menopause, I'm having trouble dealing with it, can't sleep very well and I get pissed off at literally everything. But I would get rid of Hillary Clinton. We don't need another Clinton, nor another Bush for that matter. The prodigy from family dynasties tend make poor leaders for Democracies. Aristocracies maybe, but not Democracies.

It's not so bad. You can always rent a boat and explore the Pacific Ocean. If you do not die on the way, you will enjoy.

And if you're lucky, you'll meet there Russian nuclear submarine, you can assume that you are not wasting money on this trip

TC, you never were right next to the launch of a space rocket? Unlikely to you or you can see the launch of a Proton in Plisetsk or Baikonur, but it seems to Canaveral it is possible for ordinary people. I give you a guarantee that you will get an unforgettable experience.

Sigma has what's called a "dirty mind", or a "one track mind" in the American vernacular. :P

Spidey must have an even dirtier mind. He got a sexual methaphor of the "rent a boat and explore the Pacific" response when I didn't. In fact, I still don't get it.
