Outgoing messages sitting in the Outbox too long

I've sent three PMs two days ago, and they're still stuck in the Outbox, which means they haven't reached their recipients. What causes such occurences? Are the recipients' PM boxes full or something?

It just means that the recipient hasn't read it yet, and so you can still edit or delete it.
