....after all the other cops shooting unarmed black people, we have a new twist: unarmed NAKED people. This should be a fine explanation of why deadly force needed to be used:

oh, and I can just visualize the protest marches, and thank goodness I ate lunch already. A naked Al Sharpton isn't doing it for me. But, seriously, what the feck kind of incompetent police can't subdue the naked guy? Sure, it's about as messy as wrestling a tuna fish into a boat, but really, they had to shoot him?

When officers arrived, they found the man completely unclothed, in the parking lot.
"The man, he was like drugged, but he was naked, and he was crawling," Oscar Perez said. "I think the police officer thought he was going to attack, so he shot him."
Police gave a similar account at the news conference.
"When the male saw the officer, he charged, running at the officer," Alexander said. "The officer called to him to stop, while stepping backward. He then drew his weapon and fired two shots."
Just depends on how confident he was that a taser or pepper spray would stop the charging, drug crazed, attacker fast enough to protect him before he was overpowered and at the mercy of the attacker.

please, don't they carry radios to get backup? Now, the guy was likely on PCP from the symptoms(makes a body get naked, a lot), and most Eastern cities have extensive experience with that. You cannot taze the person, as that induces fatal seizures, but shooting, that quickly? Get ready for the marches, people.

slick are you suggesting no cop should leave his vehicle without calling for backup in case when he arrives on the scene there is a drug crazed attacker that might charge him, forcing a split second decision?
Or are you suggesting there was time to call for back up after he arrived on the scene where there was a drug crazed attacker who spotted the cop and charged him?
And didn't you just go through this same routine of assumptions and pre-judgements of police tactics without having the facts in the Michael Brown/Ferguson case telling us all sorts of things that shouldn't be...couldn't be...regarding the incident based on the hands-up-don't-shoot 'witnesses' only to have all your complaints and proclamations shot down with a heavy dose of reality and it has subsequently been confirmed as an event transpired in a manner 'other-than-slicks-version' by none other than Erik Holder's Justice Department?
Yes, I thought so....so here we go again? What will the T shirt say this time? 'Balls out! Don't blow me...away!!'

as a friend of mine wrote today online: when am I going to read about cops shooting an unarmed white guy? This story is getting old.

I linked a shooting of a black cop shooting a unarmed white boy but I guess the "optics" weren't what you wanted.

Tell your friend the truth.
It will happen when it serves to prop up the political narrative supported by the media.
I'd like to know how many people your friend thinks the police kill annually. I bet if he answered spontaneously he would over estimate it by a large percentage.

your friend should look up the incident where the cops tased an unarmed white guy at the airport in vancouver.
he subsequently died afterwards.
