Obama's signature trade agreement and fast tracking got defeated, surprisingly by members of his own party. Wonder if light bulbs are starting to come on. Oddly enough republican leadership was for it. Go figure.

The trade agreement didn't get defeated. I don't know enough about TPP to have an informed opinion, and I think that is the main reason fast track got defeated.

That's why the dems defeated it. The repubs were for it.

my prediction is that the trade agreement will go through, with massive GOP support. The Dems on the far leff seem leery, but as far as I can tell, only based on Wikileaks info, which I've found pretty flawed at times. The far right has issues, but mostly the usual ones: ie-it's Obama's idea.

Problem with trade agreement was no one knew what was in it. Transparency at it's finest.

I have a gut feeling about this... is if it passes and it's successful, the republicans will claim it was their idea in the next few years.

If you count success as allowing US companies to use child labor in third world countries, then it ought to be a rousing success...at least for the companies

that's because the trade agreement negotiations aren't finished, and thus, there is NO agreement to see.

Sure....thats why when you are allowed into the room that has it, the people who are allowed to read it can't take notes or keep any record of what they read. Perhaps you should stop trying to bamboozle us.

they are reading draft proposals, not the final agreement. At least, insofar as the TPP is concerned, which is the big one out there. There is NO final agreement on the TPP yet, that I'm aware of.

If nothing else, we should fix the horribly broken US copyright law before the TPP makes it even worse and then inflicts it upon every country that signs it.
