The first major attack of WWIII?

It's a major cyberattack- and one that specifically went after the government en masse.

Perhaps it could also serve as a shot across America's bow by the Chinese to stay out of the South China Sea.

or not. It should be a wake-up call to the importance of cyber-security, which folks in both the public and private sector seem to ignore until too late.

That happened before they'd installed their new security system, which was what alerted them to the most recent intrusion, albeit, after the fact.

Yeah, let's remember that the controllers in the west like to use drugs while working.

sigma, don't Russian controllers love vodka? Just what we need, a bunch of drunken Russian missile controllers having a party next to "the switch". :P

Speaking on the topic of Nuclear Armageddon, we came very close to sending nukes towards the Soviet Union and Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Apparently, our military generals actually wanted, and gave that advise to J.F.K., to launch nukes in order to solve the problem with Khrushchev and his Cuban Missiles, for the most ridiculous of reasons. That the U.S. wouldn't look weak in the eyes of the Soviets (we already did after the Bay of Pigs fiasco, so I guess their egos were hurt), which would prompt them to get away with even more aggression. What utter insanity, like the world could live on normally after a large nuclear exchange! The world has the calm and reasoned thinking of J.F.K. to thank, a war veteran peacemaker that countered those bull-headed, warmongering generals and thus prevented WWIII.

The problem is that the psychologists have taught Americans to take a good relationship as a weakness. I say again, the United States does not need anybody, that's your paranoia, no Russian aggression, until you do not want.

I think it is useless to explain again and again. Endless western hysteria, which is afraid to be exposed.

sigma, my first sentence in my previous post was meant to be a joke. Sit back, drink some vodka and enjoy yourself. Life's too short. :)

We think in different ways, TC. Northern Europe can give odds to Russia for alcoholism, not to mention the legalized drugs.

I guess I'm just not the type of person who likes drugs or alcohol, other than caffeine. I hate drinking alcohol because it gives me headaches afterwards and I tried marijuana since it's legal in our state and I can't figure out why people would want to even use it. Being stoned is just not enjoyable to me.

it's pretty much essential to me for reading this forum.

seriously, I've pretty much indulged in any controlled or non-controlled substance out there, generally in my misspent youth. My watchword was always moderation, and I've found that to be the most important part. That said, at this advanced age, heavy alcohol consumption makes me feel like crap, hard drugs are too hard on my body, but certain strains of weed are ideal(once again, in moderation) with a glass of wine or two.

Sorry, I just can't figure out what all the hoopla is about weed. I felt like a zoned out and an utterly unproductive lump of flesh just sitting around wasting my life, and there's really not much of that left to waste anymore. Thinking about anything or doing anything was practically impossible. A total waste of my day IMO. Now if I was in pain and bedridden or something like that, then I'd reconsider using it.

without knowing details, you don't realize that you just essentially said, 'I tried Burgundy wine, but can't see why people like wine'.

True. I'm not in the "know" on the types and flavors of weed.

Yeah but wake and bake is pretty much the day drinking of marijuana. Would you start drinking at the beginning of the day, especially if you expect to be able to get things done? I realize you say you don't like alcohol either, so this analogy may not resonate so strongly with you, but in the same way you might have some drinks with some friends on a Friday night you might smoke with them as well.

Oh, I like alcohol, but it doesn't like me once it starts wearing off. I used to drink sometimes when I was young to enjoy myself, but now in post-menopause, the headache after the fun royally sucks since I'm a migraine sufferer. As for weed, I can see toking some in the evening and zoning out after a hard day. I found it does help with sleep, which is something that is harder to come by in my older age, so there's that. I definitely wouldn't ruin my day again using it though. I guess I was expecting more of, I don't know????

go to your local store(dispensary, whatever they call it Oregon). Ask for Blue Moonshine. Wait until after breakfast for crying out loud, and smoke it near bedtime. You'll sleep.

   Will do. Blue Moonshine. Got it. And yes, they are called "dispensaries". Heck, we've got three of them in town.
