"monitoring sea turtle nests should not be a life-threatening experience"

but, when you carry a gun into public, odd stuff happens and, as I've noted plenty, YOU ARE NEVER READY FOR IT. As the victim also noted, it's damn lucky he didn't pack the magnum......

I hope you understand that whole “will never be ready” position, flies right in the face of your situational awareness theory.

my only situational awareness theory that I can think of espousing here is precisely that 'you will never be ready'. So, please, fill me in.

Actually, park rangers that protect animals in the African wilds have to worry about getting shot by poachers. Greenpeace members have to worry about getting sunk on the high seas, or jailed, when they try to protect whales. Sometimes being an environmentalist requires hazard pay.

Your lack of training in firearms is precisely evident

actually, I've been through handgun training at my sportsmans club(long time ago), and have been trained in use of a shotgun. Continue.

Then your training did not included situational awareness. Instead of saying you can never be ready, you should really be saying, "Be aware of your surroundings" so you can be ready.

all well and good(and actually I was taught that one by real life, in ways you likely could never grasp). The fact remains that unless one is in absolute high alert status, and maintaining constant eye movement along with a top level of body control, the person PLANNING something is way ahead of you, and always will be. That is part of what my issue always has been around public carry. To do it right, the carriers have to be in that mode at every moment, and frankly, I don't want to walk or live around people operating on that level at all times. If I am ever living in an America that works like that, my bags are packed and I'm moving to someplace more peaceful. Fast.

You obviously still do not understand the concept.

I've seen it in practice. Feel free to explain your understanding.
