I'm sure all the Libs who love a good smear will appreciate the faux story.

All things considered I'd say this makes him eligible for the office... (doesn't speak well of the office)

It was a very real story, and Trump has been covered in the city by the Voice for decades now. What they've dug up over the years(never really refuted, there is nothing the least criminal or liable about using Daddy's connections and clout and some of his money to build an empire. It just isn't 'self-made' whatsoever. As for the racism in rental businesses, that was long documented by many NYC news sources, some of them FAR from 'Lib'.

And so? Where did JFK's daddy make his money?

Irrelevant because JFK's angle wasn't "hey, I'm a great businessman."

But then Trump is a great businessman. Your point?

using Daddy's money and influence doesn't make you a good businessman, especially given all the trips to Chancery Court filing bankruptcies.

It's amazing how non-successful people like to berate those that do succeed. Trump may have used daddy's money to get started but far exceeded what daddy did. Can you say that about every rich kid who tried the same?

at any rate, Woody, the facts are these: as Trump sticks around, the focus will be put on the details of his claims to 'self-made' status(no one whining about him being rich, beyond his braggart nature about it), his Italian friends who have assisted him in the casinos, his personal and professional relationships, his racist rental practices, etc. As one Republican strategist noted last night, the debate should be telling. He'll be on stage with a bunch of folks who've been in a debate setting before and no one is going to let him slide with blowhard rants and loose adherance to facts.

I'll say one thing. This may be the first time I watch a Republican Presidential debate hosted by Fox News. It's going to be like watching a mega train wreck. The horror and carnage of it all!

ya get a two-fer TC. They have the B league debate on at 6pm for an hour, then the ace line up later that evening. Hell, I'm watching. Making a pound of spiced shrimp, cracking a bottle of Harvest Blush and kicking back for some comedy.

I'm happy the unelectable Mr. Trump has the full support of all the nitwits. It helps ensure the GOP's shitty platform will not be part of the Executive Branch until 2020.

Well I can't wait for the Dems debate. Lets see, we have:

A commie
Someone named after a barbecue

good, I see you are making a feeble attempt to dumb down the field to the GOP level. Fail. Hillary isn't old, who a 'beefcake' is supposed to be eludes me, Bernie is a Socialist, NOT the same as Communist, had you been paying attention in school, and can't figure out the barbecue allusion, either. Sadly, every last candidate(plus, the one who just might be entering in a couple weeks) can THINK circles around the entire GOP field, can conduct themselves with dignity and honor on the larger world stage, and none of them are a public embarrassment as the clown car yields. As I said, you fail miserably at trying to bring them down to the gutter with the GOP.

Oh what a smackdown for Trump. Both Hillary and Sanders, even Biden, would beat Trump if the election was held today. Personally, I'd take the Socialist Democrat over the loud mouth businessman just for the entertainment value of watching conservatives go bonkers dealing with a true "dyed in the wool socialist" for another 4 years. If they think Obama is leftie now......

It’s ok to call the entire GOP field “clowns” but don’t call Sanders a “commie” because he’s a ”socialist” DOH!
......................
Sanders isn’t even close to being a “dyed in the wool” socialist. I think some of you would faint if you met a true socialist.

I call them that because of THEIR conduct. Yes, I'll split hairs because a socialist is not close to a communist.

well, socialism has a lot of different variations. In the sense of a Scandanavian-style Democratic Socialist, Bernie is pretty close to textbook. You might be thinking about the more collectivist types.

Sanders is a redistributionist, just like the rest of the faux socialists that rely on capitalism to provide the wealth to redistribute.

if you wish to call the Scandanavian model 'faux socialism', Karl Marx likely wouldn't disagree. It is a cobbling together of capitalism, redistributing capital rather than seizing it outright and centralizing production. Still, at this point, 50 years or so into the development, I'll agree to simply call it what the folks involved call it.

Trump is a redistributionist too. It all goes to him whenever he can get it, by
any means he can get it, just like all the other "successful" capitalists who lord over their massive wealth and who's kids never worked a day in their lives and even don't know what
real work is, like Trump. These are the same lazy clueless creeps, many who reside in congress, who think people don't need to retire until they're 70, or die first. Doesn't matter that there isn't a level playing field in our system either. The ones who win are the ones who game the system by any means possible, even illegal means, not the ones who work hard all their lives and create or fix things. Why do you think Sanders is getting the massive crowds he's getting? People see the inequality that's crept into our system and are fed up.

The real unvarnished truth to Trump's "deport them all" idea. He wouldn't be able to back that statement up even if he was president.

I’m not sure how a divide this deep can be bridged. But here is what I know:
I know that incivility is immoral and dangerous to democracy. People of faith in particular are called to speak and act on the assumption of shared human dignity. This does not rule out vigorous disagreement, but it forbids the cultivation of contempt and the issuing of threats.
I know that Trump is encouraging political fantasies. He is not preparing people for difficult choices, on, say, entitlements; he is assuring them that our problems could be easily solved if elites were not so corrupt. And he is wrong. Our problems are not easy.
And I know that the success of Trump would be the downfall of the GOP. Any party captured by rage and resentment will fail, and deserve it. Republicans should stand for responsible reform, not reckless populism.

The DNC has not ignored the real estate mogul in the past: when he announced his campaign, in June, it issued a statement that said Trump added “some much-needed seriousness that has previously been lacking from the GOP field”.

Suuuure.
I've heard the new Trump meme this morning. Since Gingrich is also mouthing this, it must be the new Fox News
"against those evil liberals" meme of the day. Trump and Gingrich both said in the morning news shows that Clinton's email scandal was a worse deed than what Petraeus did by whispering military secrets to his lover in the sack and doing it all while going out of his wife. Good grief! Clinton an evil devil, Petraeus a "good man". I've officially heard it all. Conservatives have no shame or principles whatsoever.

This also coming the same man who denies he insulted Rick Perry first, a bald face lie no reporter has questioned him about either. Oh, that poor little Trump is just a victim of all those haters and that he only hits back when he's attacked. Doesn't matter that he attacked or insulted almost every other candidate in the Republican clown car
first to get the poll numbers he's gotten. WHAT AN ASS!
