When it comes down to the two parties and their picked nominees, I don't think Trump can take on Bernie Sanders, but I do think he can beat Hillary. Not even democrats don't seem to like her that much. I don't think the democrats have the foresight to make Sanders the nominee.
Up until recently, I figured Ben Carson had a good shot at beating Sanders, even though he's unlikely to be the top choice for the Republican nominee. But he's now branded a racist. He's done.
Ted Cruz is an idiot. I can't stand hearing him say anything. He's not even popular among Hispanics.
Speaking of Hispanics, Bush, seems to be the most realistic contender. He seems to be more popular among Hispanics, despite not being one. I think he could beat both Hillary and Sanders, despite Fox news not giving him as much coverage as the other candidates. I think he's the most likely choice for nominee.
Rubio is a really good speaker, argues very well, but he probably look like a twelve year old to older voters. For this reason, I doubt he'd be able to beat Hillary or Sanders. He's not doing great in the polls, but he's not dead in the water, like Rand Paul.
Chris Christie milks 9/11 even today. I don't know if others are bothered by him bring it up all the time. He's not doing well in the poll, for a number of different reasons. I don't like him mostly because he's not a good republican. I believe we should have more freedom than security. He clearly wants more security at the expense of our freedom.

Trump isn't going to prevail. He's peaked at around 30% and is now sinking a bit. Not the trajectory that wins. Until Biden decides whether or not to run, the Dem nominee is very much in flux. The rest of your observations are pretty sound. If the GOP wakes up and decides it wishes to stand for things and for people, AND actually win an election doing so, Kasich is their guy(agree with youth hurting Rubio in the general). Otherwise, they take their pick from a bunch of negative, dour voices and that never carries well, especially if the demographics are hurting them from the get-go. As for the Dems, if Biden gets in, I'll bet he wins when the dust clears. You are right, Dems really have no love of Hillary, and Bernie is a well-meaning loose cannon, who at least realizes what the core issues facing the nation really are. Biden is a mix of Sanders authenticity, with a more political, practical streak akin to Hillary's husband. He could, quite potentially, become a great President.Isaac wrote:When it comes down to the two parties and their picked nominees, I don't think Trump can take on Bernie Sanders, but I do think he can beat Hillary. You might hate him, but watch Ted Cruz.

I have been, for two years, and am frankly SHOCKED at how little traction he has gotten. Perhaps, he is the most major victim of the Trump onslaught....I don't know, but I fully expected Ted Cruz to be a top 3 candidate, and very possible nominee, given the rise of the Tea Party loonisphere. I am puzzled why he isn't.ThunderBunny wrote:You might hate him, but watch Ted Cruz.

I've said it a few times already, a Bush/Rubio ticket will be hard to beat. I'm putting my money on them being the most realistic winners in 2016.Isaac wrote:Speaking of Hispanics, Bush, seems to be the most realistic contender...Rubio is a really good speaker, argues very well, but he probably look like a twelve year old to older voters.
I am also shocked. Relieved, but still surprised he didn't generate more buzz. He's one of the better speakers in the GOP.callmeslick wrote: am frankly SHOCKED at how little traction he has gotten.

further, he was an ace debater in prep school and later at Princeton. Maybe he's biding his time until the Donald dust settles. I note he's working real hard to cheerlead the government shutdown, so clearly bucking the GOP establishment, which seems popular with the party base.

If I had to choke down a Republican, it would be Kasich before Cruz OR Trump OR Rubio. Kasich is the only one who exudes leadership.
By the way, anybody watch last Wednesday's South Park. They really burned Trump (better than what they really did). I wonder why Trump hasn't lambasted them for it in some new tweet? He's gone after everyone else who's dared insult him.
He's now gone after Rich Lowry for Lowry's comments on Megyn Kelly's show about how Carly Fiorina emasculated (non-crude language version on my part TB) Trump. So much for a clean fight.
