AND he wasn't extreme enough either. Wanna bet the House is going to select a tea party candidate this time? It's sure looking that way. There goes the House and any chances of getting anything cogent and bipartisan accomplished. Either that or nothing but craziness gets accomplished, which is scarier.

Never know, sometimes when you actually show some respect for a minority, they start to ease up a little.

the more moderate group have bent over backwards for the 40 more extreme types, and still the minority demands things be doosne their way.
It sounds like they're at an impasse, with the outside shot that Ryan reconsiders and offers himself up as a human sacrifice. McCarthy stated pretty clearly that he refused to run for the job because he did not wish to be railroaded into extreme tactics.
As for the suggestion that the ultimate Speaker will be from the Tea Party caucus: I'd bet you enough moderates would balk at that and vote for Pelosi or a compromise Dem first. That would be fun!
