So, there is enough stuff about Bush that I didn't like this last term, (I.E. rushing into a war) and Kerry seems to be just generally sleezy. Can I nominate myself for president? Maybe I should just ask this: Can I have better options? Seriously- I want to know what way you guys are leaning in the way of elections, and why. (Please try to refrain from just bashing one candidate or another- give good positive reasons, too)

I consider myself moderatly conservative. I don't like some of the things Bush did during his term, but Kerry isn't exactly appealing to me either (McCain as a VP would be interesting, probably would get my vote). As it stands right now, I don't care for either canidate, but I'd probably vote Bush. It's either one extreme or the other.

That seems to be the problem with recent elections: there's no "good" candidate, just "bad" and "worse", and you just have to hope the country doesn't implode over the next 4 years....

This is happening in Canada as well. Both candidates for Prime Minister are crap but we have to vote for 1. Tis a shame.

McCain as President would get my vote. Maybe its just because I know him better living in AZ, but off hand I can't even think of a democrate that I would rather see as President. One of the few "Mr.Smiths" left in washington.

I am voting for Powell even if I have to write him in. It is high time we have someone occupying the oval office who has some integrity.

i don't like either of them really, but john kerry really worries me. he seems like more of a sniveling weasel than any other politician and that's pretty damned sniveling. i'm gonna vote for bush or independent just to keep kerry out and hope in 4 years someone good comes along. i haven't looked into the independent candidates yet, but i'll pick out of them and bush who i think is the lesser of two evils.

I think there are a lot of people who will write in Powell's name. I'd love to hear the final count on it.
I don't think I'll get the chance to however, I've never seen a place for it on our ballots here in S.C.

I would probably consider myself a conservative moderate. I'm too young to vote, but I would have to say I would like to see Bush get the office again. If you'll notice, the economy is getting better right now, enough for it to be noticed by most people before election time in November. The current rate of new jobs appearing is higher than the rate that Kerry promised. (something like 10 million new jobs in his first term)I also have a feeling that oil prices will go down in the future.

I'm also pro-life, so of course I agree with Bush on that issue. The war in Iraq was needed, imo. It was a given that Iraq was going to make WMD in the future, but they weren't there at the moment, so we went in too early because of a botched intelligence report.

Here's the thing though. The Patriot Act has got me kinda worried. Seems like it was made by madmen. If I'm not mistaken, Bush is all for the Patriot Act.

My final take on this has to do with Hillary Clinton. The Republicans' only chance for White House in 2008 would be John McCain, and I have a feeling that his influence wouldn't be able to beat Hillary's. So there is a possibility that having a Democrat in office next could be a good thing for Republicans. They would run out of steam right as McCain came up for his run. (btw, I do have a feeling McCain will run in 2008)
