Lets see some solutions!

Ok, I'll start. It seems to me there are at least 3 major aspects. The refugees, the people be over run by refugees, and the conflict the refugees are fleeing.

The refugees. What are you going to do with them? March them back and build a big beautiful wall to keep them in? These aren't terrorists. They're people fleeing war! It seems to me that helping these people flee war is the only solution. In the short term, does that mean some sort of camps? Probably. Food, water, shelter, and some sense of temporary security.

The people being over run by refugees. The best way to help these people is to help the refugees! Spread the burden of those in the geographical path of this flight from war as much as possible. The more we spread the burden, the less dire the individual situations become.

The conflict the refugees are fleeing. Though not the single source, Syria is probably the major contributor to the refugee crisis. This is also obviously the aspect with the most variables, and open to the most interpretation. But here is my broad stroke solution. These people don't want to be caught between Assad and ISIS while regional and international powers are trying to fight both. To keep Syria from devolving further, my first goal is partnering with Russia in propping up Assad's security situation. This conflict has to be distilled into a 2 way fight. Do you want Assad or ISIS? The magical "neither" is a recipe for continuing the refugee crisis. This hands a win to Iran, but maybe they deserve it for not being on the worst side. If Saudi Arabia can't abide by this, then they aren't part of a solution.

The main idea here is to start stabilizing the region as it is to stem the flow of refugees. I think if your goals are to enact further geopolitical changes, then that has to come with a plan for an exacerbated refugee situation.

What I don't see as any sort of plan, is to sh!t on the refugees. To shun them because they are desperate. They aren't going to disappear, so lets share the burden.

I have no problem with sharing the burden, I have a problem with quotas for the reasons I stated before.

I can’t see propping up Assad’s security as a solution because he is the problem.

As to the people being inundated, the solution there has to come from them.

Personally I don't have any answers other than going all out in the battle against ISIS and overthrowing Assad while we are at it, but this is a non starter for most people and probably for me as well.

Canada is reported to take in 25,000 refugees before the end of the year. As for the rest of the stuff Vander has stated, we're on the ball on that aswell.

Not likely, unless Canada wants to turn on its allies, last time I checked Canada still supports the rebels. (at least in theory)

The only working solution for America in Syria is to continue to suppress ISIS while waiting for the civil war to end, unless we want to get neck deep in crap again. This country turned its back on rebels it was supporting in the past at least 2 times I can think of off the top of my head (Contra and Pigs) so it’s not out of the question.

We're bringing them in, and no amount of whining from anyone is going to change the PM's mind.
