that's what his core support eats up. Now, I was talking to my nephew about this on the porch a little while ago. My take on Trump, and this leaves all ideology out of the equation(pure political wonk talking, here) is this: He has a rock-solid core of support, perhaps as much as 25% of the GOP nationwide, more in some states. He also, however, has a clear ceiling, and it may prove very low, like 40%. I think the GOP heavies will eventually force the field to be severely whittled after New Hampshire, and test that ceiling. The issue for them is if he manages, in large fields, to ride his base to the nomination. Then, he's looking at a nationwide General electorate who I saw some numbers( published in the Washington Post) analyzing recently. He has a strong base of support at around 14% overall, with a ceiling looking like it MIGHT exceed 35%, but not by much. Even with some enthusiasm generated, the animosity to him would also draw and the GOP could be looking at an historic loss. Given they have 5 or 6 seats in toss-up states for the Senate, and a bush war going on over House seats between the hardcore right and the more traditional Republicans, they could see a nightmare scenario shaping up. Further, having Trump front the party would destroy the brand as demographics turn away from middle aged white guys. This whole race is shaping up as fascinating. I think we are seeing political history in the making.

Well, now that some asswipe with a Muslim sounding name is implicated as the prime suspect in the mass murder of 14 people working at a government building in San Bernardino, we''ll see Trump go into full xenophobe rile up mode, all to whip up even more hysteria, and support, with his base.

I agree with your assessment. As I hinted at earlier, conversations with my friend's Jewish Republican stepfather, whose net worth is in the tens of millions of dollars, said he will vote Democratic for the first time in his life if Trump gets the nomination. He's quite distressed about it. This is on top of his deep animosity toward "the current administration," a phrase he utters with disgust at least once a day. This election is going to be a disaster and there is no avoiding it. Regardless of who wins, they will be out the door in one term.

Well lets see, as I watch the video the host says Trump is vindicated on the dancing muslims. So no batshit crazy there. Same with the need for proper surveillance. Good so far. Conversation is now at Turkey buying ISIS oil and that is true. Still waiting for something crazy here. Trump predicts bin Laden needs to be taken out 2 years before 9/11. Trump talks about not going to war with Iraq when the politicians were all voting for it.

Can someone here tell me when the batshit crazy part starts up?

not 'crazy'.....a pure lie. There WERE NOT 'thousands' of dancing Muslims in New Jersey or anywhere in the US. There has been ZERO proof or corroboration of that assertion. It is a lie.

otherwise, a lot of hindsight and assertions I am not comfortable with, but I see nothing anywhere NEAR as crazy as some public performances here on the public stage(I'm thinking of that possibly drunken ramble of a few weeks back, and the mockery of a disabled writer, among others). I don't see where the Infowars interview connotes much of significance at all.

That's my point -- it isn't. And anyone who appears on infowars automatically loses any and all credibility on anything. It is one of the top ten crank sites out there, if not one of the top three.
