Place your bets!

It's still a ways off, but lets mark down who we think will win the nominations so we can look back and laugh at how wrong we were after the fact! This is not a 'who do you want to win' poll. This is a 'who do you think will win' poll. If you want to explain your choice, that's fine, too!
Democrat: Clinton
Republican: Cruz

Vander, you should have made up a poll.
I still think that Trump will carry the nomination, especially if there are more terrorism incidents before the election that freak out his already xenophobic supporters. Cruz would be just as bad as Trump anyway. He's a religious nut and just plain weird. Frankly, we're screwed as a nation if either one of them becomes president. They're both wacko nut jobs. Kasich is the only one with his head screwed on straight and he's way down in the polls.
As for the Dems, I'd like to see Sanders instead of Clinton, although Sanders is getting on in his years. But I think you're right that Clinton will ultimately be selected as the presumptive queen. Damn.

whoever the Dems run wins. The GOP is already coming apart at the seams, a couple months before the primaries get really going(Carson and Trump threatening to quit the party, old guard plotting a brokered convention and inserting Romney, or maybe Rubio, Dole suggesting staying home if Cruz or Trump carry the day, etc). That scenario is the death of a campaign before it even starts. Right now, I will bet the real players are focused on down ticket issues, like the House, Senate and local elections. The 2020 census will blow all gerrymandering out the windows even if the Court hasn't already done so by then.

A poll wouldn't show who chose what, and I probably would've needed split polls for Rep/Dem. It seemed easier just to have people write it in.
callmeslick wrote:whoever the Dems run wins.
This isn't about President, rather who will win the respective nominations.

oh, if that is what you mean, Vander, my picks are:
Hillary will likely carry the Dems
Rubio will carry the GOP, via party pressure
Trump will run as an independant.

We had this discussion way back in May or June when Trump first entered the race and made his immigration policy statement. Those of you on the left thought he would be a flash in the pan. Todays latest Reuters rolling poll shows Trump at 35%...almost 3 times the next highest candidate. So while slick dreams of Baby Face Rubio being the GOP nomination, ain't going to happen. Unless of course the RNC really does want to lose the presidency and tear the party apart and renege on the deal they made with Trump.

It's the Romney Effect all over again; a hyper-inflated perception of popularity perpetuated in small circles. Fans of Trump have a false view of how likely it is for Trump to be president.
My guess is Clinton and Rubio. That said, I might even consider voting for Rubio as president.

I can probably envision Bush, Cruz or Rubio winning the nomination. I think Rubio comes off a bit too young/inexperienced, and Bush's last name is Bush. I think Trump will either flame out or implode, and Cruz seems best positioned, living at the intersection of batsh!t crazy and almost respectable.

Perfectly so since Obama has put our nation and the world in great danger. Another democrat administration would spell our doom.

You don't think a Republican warmonger would spell our doom either? We can go to war and kill every ISIS fighter we want, but until the ideology is defeated or made obsolete, we won't win. The
go-to-war-to-solve-all-our-problems may make us feel like we are doing something substantive about the problem, but it will also feed that ideology and make it grow too. Going to war will only throw gasoline on the fire.

Clinton will be the nominee (barring any possible criminal indictment that may or may not be pending) for the democrats.
Biden might return to be the nominee if Clinton is taken out.
Cruz has a great shot at being the republican nominee- with Rubio a close second. Trump will drop like a rock once actual primary voting takes place.
Caucus/primary voters actually count whereas random polls sample people that may have no real interest at all in voting.

Oh, God forbid. Ted
"Religious Wacko" Cruz and his probable veep sidekick Marco
"The Babe" Rubio. We are seriously screwed. Time to move to Canada.

There's something that would protect you against 'religious wackiness' TC. That is- Ted Cruz respects and wants to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the separation of powers between what should be co-equal branches. Last I recall, the constitution guarantees freedom of (and from) religion.
After our experience with Obama, we can see what happens when a president does NOT respect the constitution NOR the separation of powers.

TB, unless you haven't been paying attention for the past 40 years or so, legislative power has been waning in favor of executive. This is due to conscious choices about action or lack thereof by the Congress(both parties),and has no more to do with Obama than anything.

Thank Bush after 9/11 for giving Obama all those new powers you now regret him having.

Not from his brand of religion, or yours either TB.
Ted Cruz wrote:"It is the job of a chaplain to be insensitive to atheists"
"...when it comes to Christians ... religious liberty is under assault in this country."
Cruz has also claimed that
Christian terrorism stopped centuries ago, even after the most recent Colorado Springs mass shootings were perpetrated by a man who claims as "heroes", members of the Army of God, a loosely knit group of anti-abortion extremists that has claimed responsibility for a number of murders and bombings. Cruz's retort was that Robert Dear, the shooter,
might have been a "trans-gendered leftist activist". Never mind Cruz's campaign spokesman that to walk that one back a few days later.
Oh, and if you like net neutrality, Cruz ain't your man.
Ted Cruz wrote:"Net neutrality’ is Obamacare for the Internet"

I'll tell you one simple thing. If someday, some U.S. President will be able to gain the respect among the ordinary people in Russia, when the abbreviation U.S.A. will cease to be a synonym for something dirty, obscene, indecent, then this President can be considered an outstanding person. Not for awards.

Does anyone want to change their answers? My answers of Clinton and Cruz still hold, but I'm feeling a little less confident of Cruz. I've underestimated the level establishment hatred of Cruz. I figured they would migrate to Cruz to block Trump, but the reverse seems to be happening.
