It forever blows my mind that Interplay once shelled out $50k for this tournament.

I was like 5 kills short of getting free plane tickets to the tournament proper...

Did they make everyone use that controller configuration? That would have been a deal breaker for me, as everyone laughed me out of the building while I made a fool of myself trying to play with it.

Yes, that is another player. I have never played D3 multi-player (or D2, and only 20 min of D1 after Rebirth was released). I'm a single-player guy and my name is a generic one I've used in a few different games.

However, I do remember that tournament and wanted to play in it, but knew I would get my ass handed to me.

Actually, once again to go through Descent1-2-3 with 1-5 mates in a coop mode, it's quite fun and interesting

Thinking back, D3 must've had a huge budget and on top of that: a 50k tourny.

And I could only play the games on Trainee, and I'd played D1 for five years without beating the first boss?

I mean, I thought I was good at it... I was a little bit vain at that age.
