Fresh opium in the streets of America

So myself and my friend are strolling in small, sleepy city CA, and we strike up a conversation with the flower vendor (my friend was buying some for his GF) when we notice about 10 papaver somniferum plants ;)

We bought the fresh poppies off him (its illegal actually to sell fresh poppies, although many american homes have them growing), brought them home, and cut the tiny slits like they show in pics from Afghanistan ;)

And poof, the milk spilled from the pod, we scraped and smoked...it worked. Ha. Then we took the pods, dried them at low heat in the oven, and made tea. Worked again.

America's drug laws are weird. I'll return to what Bush & Ashcroft call supporting the war on terror--you know, buying some local flowers.

Think I should tip the guy off that what he is doing is illegal? Dried pods are legal (I don't really know why, there are plenty of people on ebay and the internet selling them and the tea does work) but fresh certainly are not.

If it comes out of the Earth, why is it illegal :P

Oh yeah, and if I were you I'd buy a bunch off of him...and THEN tell him its illegal ;)

poppies are so pretty too, damn draconian laws :(

i can pick one of the most sought after hallucinagic mushrooms in the world from anyone's front lawn around here. last summer (i think) i was walking through a grassed parkland and an excited guy comes upto me clutching 2 open handfulls of these little mushrooms telling me to get busy if i wanna fun ride :).

i walk around looking down at the grass, and i could've picked as many mushrooms as he had in his 2 hands from 5-15 square meters of grass. the things were everywhere.

this is a public parkland.

what's gonna happen if a cop sees me with one in my hand? he's gonna arrest me, how stupid is that, even a little toddler coulda picked em up. i didn't even KNOW the things were psychtropic and illegal until that excited guy told me.

here's a pic from that day of me holding one (well i think these were them, i didn't get a great look at them in the excited guy's hands). they are called "gold tops", and they only natively grow locally around here.
