Well, what we would normally use is pxo, but seeing as that's not working,
this tcp/ip tracker seems to do the trick

well... if you're browsing the internet, then your computer *does* have TCP/IP installed. It has to. You can't read the DBB without TCP/IP.
Probably, then, what this means is that you haven't configured D3 to use TCP properly.
What you need to do is run the D3 launcher (Descent 3.exe) in your D3 directory. It should have buttons "play", "setup", "update", "readme", "uninstall", etc. Click "setup". Go over to the "network" tab and make sure it's set properly -- "dialup" if you're on dialup, and "LAN / direct" if you're on any sort of broadband or on AOL. Also make sure you set the connection speed properly. This should allow D3 to run properly for you.

Hi collegekid. It sounds as if maybe the port that Descent 3 is trying to use is already being used by something else. In the Descent 3 Launcher (blue box when you first start D3), go to the Misc. tab in Setup.
The default port is 2092. So add the following command line option:
-useport 2093
If that doesn't work, try a few different numbers. That's the best idea I have right now. If you still can't get it to work, feel free to drop by in chat.
