Ha. You know scientists. I know scientists. This is pretty funny stuff and I'm sure they are more than happy with the name. You should see some of the names of equipment at my lab. The department allows residents to name servers and one post-doc named a valuable server "mike-kicks-ass."

you're right. I'm sure the scientists love the name. I'd just hate to be the captain, sitting around the bar in port, explaining that he's the master of the Boaty McBoatface.
edit--best name for lab item I can recall was all the way back in undergrad research lab. We were inducing liver tumors in white rats, then analyzing a couple of metabolites linked to cell proliferation at various stages. The large holding cage with the mature animals was nicknamed The Bastille, because the rat guillotine was the next stop for the occupants.
