I'm a realist. There's a better than good chance that Trump will get the delegates for the nomination and therefore hand the election to Hillary...but, hope can spring eternal even in the darkest night.

Which is too bad because I find Cruz somewhat more trustworthy and likeable than Mrs. Clinton even if I agree on his policies less. I think a Hillary/Cruz matchup would be closer than some people are comfortable with.

actually, a Sanders v Cruz contest would be a referendum on the nature of our government that is sorely needed. Trump v Clinton will be the standard mud war with overblown personalities.

Yes it would. It would determine if our country has actually tipped into the abyss of socialistic decay or not.

It would show us in no uncertain terms if the majority of our citizenry want to totally hand over their lives to government or not.

Also, the Dems push their favorite bits of the document, and overlook others, but at least accept the evolutionary aspects built in. Without that give and take, you end up,essentially, bound to a set of rules that simply won't work in the 21st century. There is much debate over whether the founders sort of intended the thing to become outmoded and subject to revisiting the whole Constitution over time. Jefferson surely saw it that way, it is unclear how many others agreed with him.

I personally don't give a rat's ass what the founding fathers thought. The Constitution is an agreement between the government and it's populace and needs to change as the people change, according to their values, beliefs, and what we learn about the world around us. The founders did their best at the time but could not imagine the world of today, nor see all the successes and shortcomings of the document they penned.

I agree, Vision, and so did Jefferson, who at least had the foresight to acknowledge that change would render obsolescence.
