Yeah it's all the republicans fault:
The spokesman said that while “a very small handful of Democrats” opposed cutting the stipend to pay for the bill, they didn’t offer an alternative funding source
Guess the Dems didn't want to cut into the free stipends they give to the derelicts who go out and protest violently at the Trumps speeches.

What free stipends? I thought welfare was long gone, banished by Reagan.

according to my vet friends, who are up in arms about this(I'm in touch with a lot of them because of a big trout fishing event for vets this coming weekend in PA), the vast bulk of the recipients of this particular benefit are CHILDREN of troops killed in action, or who died after service. Those weaselly takers.....

and of course slick you pointed out that a lot of Dems voted for this atrocity of a bill.

actually, given the way the system works, the Dems really didn't get much chance to weigh in. Any counter proposal wouldn't have made it out of committee.Frankly, I was unaware of the matter, but have been hearing an earful on the Veterans blogs about it, when I popped in to remind folks of the upcoming Vets Appreciation Weekend.

Funny how you didn't take this view about Obamacare being voted in.

two years after it happened? The GOP exercised control via threatened filibusters. This might get done in by Presidential veto. So what, do we need a civics lesson here?

The Rep. didn't vote on Obamacare as a way to protest. In your example for the Vets, there were a lot of Dems who voted for the bill.
