now, I accept that these nitwits are just a tiny, tiny sliver of all people self-identifying as Christian. What I found interesting is that, for those who've studied comparative theology, they are operating their churches in exactly the same was as some of the more radical parts of the Muslim world do. By declaring themselves to be independent 'Baptists', and 'free to interpret the Bible' they are no different than many imans in the Islamic world who simply make fatwahs based upon a singular interpretation of the Koran.

And how many hundreds have they lined up at a beach to cut their heads off? Or burned alive in a cage? You getting desperate to show equality between Christians and radical Muslims?

And people were doubting the connection between extremist Christian leaders and anti-gay violence.
Well there it is, right in plain view.

RADICAL Christian and Muslim groups have massive equivalency, frankly. As for acting on the words? Just look at what parts of the Christian right from American brought to African nations: laws for capital punishment of gays, NONE of which were contemplated before American groups spent big money bribing officials.

prove the equivalency besides throwing out a worthless opinion.

OK, woody, here you go. Complete moral equivalence:

now, I'm sure there will be something to negate any facts or expert opinion out of the Independent's International Desk coming soon.

So some laws were changed. Again have any gay people been beheaded in the hundreds ? No? Then your link is meaningless as a comparative.

wow, 'some laws were changed'......calling for the death penalty and a REALLY low threshold of proof for the death penalty. If tens of thousands of gay people are now living in hiding and fear, what does the body count mean, exactly? You just don't have the moral fiber to admit this is precisely the sort of intolerance one sees in other religious extremist communities.

I'm a Christian, and that is not Christianity. The only place it talks about gay punishment in the bible new testament is in the end times. It does not say to separate the weeds from the wheat pre-harvest, but rather the opposite. (Kudos if you get the reference to the parable)
Islam, on the other hand, has multiple ayats - and even large chunks of surahs - in the Quran devoted to "weeding" (same Bible reference) the evildoers, some even mentioning that this must occur before Allah can return.

And, at the same time, much of the Koran is devoted to the idea of treating all with respect, and letting God sort it out, much as the Bible does. I'm not here to argue if ANY religion is better, worse or even correct at all. My only point was in response to the suggestion that people CALLING THEMSELVES Christians do actively seek the death of gay people, which was earlier asserted NOT to be the case.

Screw a lighter, I'll provide the oxy-acetylene torch.
If you're going to do it, do it in style.

tangental but related, insofar as questioning leaders being in any way Christian. This was NOT forwarded to me by some leftist, but by a noted outdoor photographer and devoted Christian, a man with a fine heart:
