Turkey suddenly finds itself in the midst of yet another military coup.
Traditionally, the military has been a secular force against islamism- but we'll see how this shakes out.
Erdogan has been an enemy of secular free thought and a defacto islamist who has even been thought to support ISIS in certain aspects.
So even though a coup is normally a bad thing- and it always is in a supposed "democracy," it might flush away this wretch of a wannabe islamist dictator.
What replaces him? Roll of the dice at this point.
Turkey taken by coup...

Oh...and at least I can take some comfort in this sticking a big middle finger to Erdogan's butt buddy, mister Obama.

Where on EARTH do you come up with this stuff? Find me some facts to back that piece of steaming BS up.......Hell, Obama has had to drag Erdogon kicking and screaming into any semblance of cooperation and had to threaten economically to do so.
That said, as I explained to my wife, this sort of thing seemingly happens at least once every decade in Turkey. As noted by NS, typically, they allow some more Islamist types to be in control until the army sends them packing for a few years of enforced secularization. Probably not great news for ISIS, and even less so for the Kurds, but time will tell. If the army cracks down in certain ways with the Muslim hardcore types, you might actually get a new ISIS front. My guess is that the events a couple weeks back, that I mentioned in another thread, with ISIS attacks throughout the Muslim world, brought this about, and it merely ushers in extreme security measures, which, in Turkey can be EXTREME.

Looks like the coup failed.
