Leaked DNC Emails Confirm Democrats Rigged Primary, Reveal Extensive Media Collusion
There are three key findings to emerge from yesterday's dump of leaked DNC emails released by Wikileaks:
There had been a plot designed to smear Bernie Sanders and to hand the Democratic nomination to Hillary on a silver platter
There has been repeated collusion between the DNC and the media
There has been questionable fundraising for both Hillary Clinton and the DNC
First, a quick recap for those who missed the original report, yesterday Wikileaks released over 19,000 emails and more than 8,000 attachments from the Democratic National Committee. This is what the whistleblower organization reported:
WikiLeaks releases 19,252 emails and 8,034 attachments from the top of the US Democratic National Committee -- part one of our new Hillary Leaks series. The leaks come from the accounts of seven key figures in the DNC: Communications Director Luis Miranda (10770 emails), National Finance Director Jordon Kaplan (3797 emails), Finance Chief of Staff Scott Comer (3095 emails), Finanace Director of Data & Strategic Initiatives Daniel Parrish (1472 emails), Finance Director Allen Zachary (1611 emails), Senior Advisor Andrew Wright (938 emails) and Northern California Finance Director Robert (Erik) Stowe (751 emails). The emails cover the period from January last year until 25 May this year.
Subsequently, the Romanian hacker known as Guccifer 2.0 (who has denied he works with the Russian government), who has already released hundreds of hacked DNC emails previously, told The Hill he leaked the documents to Wikileaks.
An initial read of the thousands of emails in the data dump reveals top officials at the Democratic National Committee privately plotting to undermine Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign, confirming a long-running allegation by the Sanders campaign who has claimed that the DNC and Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz had tipped the scales in favor of Hillary Clinton during the party’s presidential primary. They also reveal instances of media collusion as well as various questionable instances of fundraising.

I don't understand how anyone is shocked by this. I've actually read a few emails and it all seems pretty normal in politics. This is how the game is played, always has been, always will.

I seriously doubt that anybody was shocked, I doubt anybody was even surprised. But it should be fascinating to anybody that is new to politics, and doesn’t understand how things “really” work.

No, not shocked here either. The DNC's become insular, entrenched with big money interests and has strayed far from it's liberal progressive platform for decades. But, this does confirm to many clueless supporters what Bernie's been saying all along, that the system and the DNC are rigged. Maybe that's political business as usual, but now people are getting sick of it. Trump's nomination is evidence of that sentiment. If any of Bernie's supporters were wavering on the fence because Hillary was pretty much the only mainstream liberal alternative, this leak just made them jump clear out of the DNC pen in disgust to look elsewhere. As for Hillary not knowing about what the party leaders, especially Wasserman Schultz, were saying about Bernie, I seriously doubt that. Hillary's been thick with the party leadership for a long time. She HAD to know. Personally, these DNC shenanigans just made my already difficult decision of who to vote for next November easier. I can't in all conscience vote for her. I loathe her and all she represents to the very core of my being. I'm not voting for Trump either because he's an unstable, arrogant egomaniac, so I guess my only choice is the Green Party. Gaaaah! We're so screwed.

Well I see the DNC chair is going to be stepping down over this. And there you thought the RNC was comedy gold. The DNC circus hasn't even gotten started and they're more fecked up than the whole RNC convention combined.

what you don't seem to grasp, Woody, is that the Dems are ALWAYS an unruly bunch(ref. Will Rogers, circa 1934). There will be anti-Hillary, pro-Bernie, anti-fracking, and about 50 other major demonstations and protests inside and outside the hall this week. As usual. All de rigeur when you try to maintain an actual open party, without that whole purge process the GOP has undergone(the term RINO ring a bell?).

actually, you never heard a comment to that effect out of me. In fact, I made the comment to another longtime Dem that they were starting to act like Democrats!
