....or, conservatives, I offer you this:

given where he said this, and what he said, I applaud Marco Rubio. That was a show of political spine, which I found lacking in him before.

Too bad he's not the Republican candidate. Even though he looks like a baby to my old fart eyes, he's obviously years ahead in political smarts from the current orange malcontent running on the Republican ticket for president. He might have even given Hillary a run for her money.

let's put the practical politics hats on here. Marco is young. Marco is NOT wealthy, or possessed of much job experience past legislatures. He wants to have a future in a nation more inclusive, less conservative, and demographically changed going forward. To keep in the game, he knows he has to evolve or he won't be 'representing' any winning coalition. Right now is precisely THE perfect time to start his re-invention.

Agreed. And you know he's not alone. Maybe he won't be president in the next 20 years, but someone who shares his views might. There were a few good Republican candidates this year. Maybe in two years we will see more like them and fewer of what we have now.

Instead of trying to look balanced by commenting on some candidate who couldn't stand up to Trump, why don't you spin the accolade for someone that couldn't stand up to Hillary...like Jim Webb.

Rubio tried to follow the 2012 post mortem and pushed immigration reform only to get slapped down by the base. (Cruz too, but he was straddling the fence) If Trump gets crushed, does the base start to relent? Or will Rubio get slapped down on this as well?

Trump would have to get crushed pretty bad and even then the base would not relent. Senators and congressmen beware what you promote.

and some here wonder why I beat on the Orange Baboon, when he has followers talking this ★■◆●. Exactly the problem. I reach out, and give Marco Rubio credit for changing with the REAL America, Woody wants me to somehow bring the Bad Hair Windbag into this. Sorry, homes.

Trump will get crushed, and the disarray is going to take a lot of Senate seats with it. Even the house is now considered in play. After the election, I think you may see significant defections, if not in party, in which caucus they sit with. I envision the Maine delegation and about 2 more GOP seats going to declare Independant status and caucus with the Dems. For all intents and purposes, the GOP either banishes the Trump wing, or(more likely) simply ceases to be a cohesive, functional party. Something will rise from these ashes....it always has in our history. We need two party functionality. Marco Rubio is young enough to wish to catch on with that new entity, which will either accept the reality he does, or, if they cling to the old white angry stupid guy wing, be a minor party with little power.

You must have a short memory. Several people on this board including myself and Slick has both good things and bad things to say about Mr Webb. Personally I still think he is a good man with good ideas, but he clearly has some issues that make him a bad fit for the presidency.

exactly. Sadly, Webb had no interest in actually campaigning for the job.

To be fair though, you're complimenting him for adopting a Democrat viewpoint, so you're basically just giving yourself a pat on the back.

to be fair, when should tolerance, in America, be a viewpoint limited to one party?

Because the left demonizes the right every chance they get?
