Well geez, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that would happen. It just shows the true colors of pro-life Republicans, that they really don't care about the mother or the baby with their "cut Planned Parenthood at all costs" mantra, as long as they keep their Evangelical base happy by cutting abortion numbers. Never mind they're throwing out the mothers AND babies with the bathwater doing it. Of course, Republicans don't see the need for ANY federally subsidized women's health care, or for that matter, nationally funded health care for all anyway, so I guess they're being consistent. Another indication they don't really care is that they left town this summer before coming up with some funding for the other really urgent pregnancy issue going on down South, aka, fighting the spread of Zika.

I must be missing the point ?
But the overall maternal mortality rate and actual number of maternal deaths remain uncertain, as does the underlying reason for the sudden jump in 2011–12.
[..]
“The short answer is, I don’t know” what caused pregnancy-related deaths to rise sharply in that period, Hollier said. “The longer answer is I think it’s unlikely that there is a single explanation. The problem is complex and the increase is likely due to a multitude of factors.”
[..]
The task force did not study whether the family planning cuts in the 2011–12 legislative session — largely aimed at Planned Parenthood but affecting other providers as well — might have triggered the spike in mortality. But other analysts doubted the cuts were to blame, noting that they took effect in late 2011 and 2012, after maternal deaths had already started to rise.

well, you catch the part about not being SURE about the coincidental timing and causation. However, I see no information to show that Texas gave a tinker's damn about these issues, but was laser focused on making women's healthcare hard to come by, and preventing low income working women from availing themselves of Medicaid. As I said in the thread title, sometimes it's easier to call yourself 'pro life' that it is to actually BE protective of all life.

It's liberals fault for murdering babies in a place where they practice womens healthcare. What did they think would happen.

Like any good bureaucracy they assigned a task force to check out the problem as soon it became apparent in 2013. The
report was released last month, give them some time to implement the recommendations...

Like I've said before -- It's not about how many lives they save, but it's about how many births they can achieve.

Warnings of problems were apparent back in 2012. The initial result of all those closures DID suddenly put a big strain on other health providers all over Texas. It's bound to have a negative effect on
everyone's health care in Texas due to the now over strained system, but women especially will feel the pain.

Everyone feels pain.
In addition, I have seen young people who were still alive, but already doomed to a painful death. But they were for example or builder with frostbitten limbs, or private security guard who were shooting and who denied the spine, or just young girl who failed to go good alpine skiing, whose broken arms and legs.
