Marketplace?
Actually is it legal to broker an arms deal on this site?

Making a firearm deal is not illegal. It might be frowned upon on this site, but it's not illegal.

I have to go with Vader on that one.
Dude, kids used to go to my school a few years ago with a shotgun to show it off to his class and to show them how to properly clean it from what one of my teachers once said. That was a long time ago but still. It's not the gun, it is the person behind it that makes the decision as to what to do with it.
BTW, Happy Gilmore ownz

Maybe so, but most people get stupid with a gun in their hands and nobody really needs one unless he's member of a shooting club.

I don't have one that I want to sell, but I'll look around and see what I can find. What are ya building?

I'm gearing up to build a tack-driving varmint rifle.
If you run into one, Komp, please let me know.

Sounds to me like slanted Euro-propoganda.
All of the gun owners I know personally become thoughtful and cautious when they have a gun in their hands. Only MORONS and SOCIOPATHS get stupid with guns in their hands, and Morons and Sociopaths are dangerous even when they don't have guns.
And the rest of your post doesn't even deserve a response, as it's idiocy is self-evident to any thinking person. You're confusing liberal neo-fascist, repressive socialist drivel with reality. STFU, or at the very least take it to the ethics board.

I can find one, I live in central Pennsylvania, it's just getting people to part with them. Plus the second largest gun shop on the east coast is about 4 blocks from my house and I'm friends with the owner.
My Swift Sorry about the picture, it was a rush job
700VS
220 Swift
6x-24x Bausch & Lomb
Burris windage adj. scope mounts
Harris bi-pod
5 shot groups @ 100 yds inside a dime

Funny, the swift is my first choice but I know finding one is going to be a pain so I threw out .223/250.
I know you re-load if you're shooting a swift.
Ya wanna dump it?

You had to want a short action didn't you
From what I could find out yesterday the Bench Rest shooters are buying up all the short actions and converting them over to 6mm BR. One guy has a standing order at
Grices Gun Shop for every short action 700 they get. So getting a used one is going to be tough and most likely cost 90% of new *sigh*
The good new is that Grices has the 700s on sale
Expires 7-31-2004
You can get a
700 Varmint Synthetic for 639.95
22-250 win.
223 rem.
308 win.
The
700 Varmint Synthetic Stainless Fluted for 774.95
220 Swift
22-250 win.
223 rem.
Or... you could just buy a
700 ADL and chop it up however you want. They have them for 369.95
22-250 win.
223 rem.
308 win.
243 win.
I think the best way to go is the 700vs like I have. It come with the H-S Persion stock ($295 retail) and a heavy barrel. All you have to do is add mounts and a scope, adjust the trigger
and break in the barrel.
The guys at
Grices Gun Shop are A++ They ship all over the world so getting one to you shouldn't be a problem. There email addy is on the website and the # is 814-765-9273.
I'm still looking around for a used one and still have a few people to talk to yet so I haven't given up hope

Komp, I just put an order in for my new varmint rig(s):
700VLS in a .223
700VLS in a 250
I'm not sure which glass I'm going with yet, but I'm leaning toward the Nightforce Tactical NF 12-42x56 @ 1100.00. They're really designed for long range, longer than I'll use it for, but I like to see.
Anyway, how many rounds do you have through your swift?

Good deal Barry
I think you'll be very happy with them.
lol... you right, that ia a lot of glass for a varmint gun. I can see my heart beat in a 24x, at 42x I'd get dizzy and fall over
Get a good bi-pod, IMHO Harris makes the best, they help a ton when you have to "reach out and touch" something. The longest shot I have to date on a ground hog is about 420 yds, so at 42x you should be able to look them right in the eye
I have about 550 rounds through the swift and it still shoots 3/4' groups @ 200yds
People don't clean them that's why they have trouble with them. When something shoots as fast as a 220 swift or a 22-250 it copper fouls the barrel pretty fast. After I shoot about 30 rounds I put the copper-out to it and the barrel looks like new.
I'm going to try the moly coated 50gr V-Max bullets this year, if I ever get the time to reload them

I'm not much of a bi-pod kinda guy. I drive up,pull out my varmint chair, tri-pod with sandbags and shoot from a comfy position. I hate prone- hurts my back.
Yeah, the swift is an inherently accurate cartridge, but as you said, people don't clean em. I was asking because it's such a hot-rod that they really do burn barrels up rather quickly when compared to something like a .223. not to mention split casemouths, etc.. I found a Ruger MKII BBL, Lam stock in a swift and almost dropped the cash for it. 525.00 with dies and a Tasco world class(haha- Junk), but.. I shoot too much and would wear the twist down in a few months. I shoot 300-1000 rounds a week so I need something cheap to shoot that has the accuracy for 400+/-. With .223 ammo so cheap, it's not even worth re-loading unless I'm working up a cartridge for match.
I'll use this one for a varmint rifle only, no benchrest crap for me other then sighting. With the 50 grn they're capable of 500+/- which is enough.
I'll save the 700 PSS .308 for when the Iraqi's come.
Speaking of wicked shots. I made a 175 yard JFK on a VERY small dog with my 17 hummer on Tuesday. That's a long shot for a hummer.
I wish I knew how to post a pic on here, you'd like my hummers. Got an e-mail I can send pics to?

no
but if you get to try one let me know what you think
If you shoot that much then the 223 would be much cheeper. I forgot you're shooting dogs, a lot more action then ground hogs
The Swift has a bad rep for burning out barrels, if you use the little bullets and crank it up over 4100fps, then yes. But mine shoots best with the 52gr bullits at about 3800fps, so it shouldn't be any harder on a barrel then a 22-250.
srread at verizon dot net if you want to send pics

Hey great! Lets pirate this thread and turn it into a debate on gun control.
