You can thank him for the new state-sponsored censorship and destruction of free speech on the internet.
President Barack Obama’s drive to hand off control of Internet domains to a foreign multi-national operation will give some very unpleasant regimes equal say over the future of online speech and commerce.
In fact, they are likely to have much more influence than America, because they will collectively push hard for a more tightly controlled Internet, and they are known for aggressively using political and economic pressure to get what they want.

I'm saying that Brietbart is, and has been since the Drunk set it up, a sensationalist lie machine, given to bizarre conspiracy theories.

And power over internet domains isn't being handed over to people that don't have our freedoms in mind?
Everyone is now going to get a vote on what happens to your favorite websites now...including religious fanatics and ruthless despots.

"The US government has never, and has never had the ability to, set the direction of the (ICANN) community’s policy development work based on First Amendment ideas," ICANN said in a statement. "Yet that is exactly what Senator Cruz is suggesting. The US government has no decreased role. Other governments have no increased role. There is simply no change to governmental involvement in policy development work in ICANN."

*edit
Thunderbunny is worried religious fanatics will co-opt a bunch of nerds in Los Angeles to change the location where top level domains resolve.
Monsters! They're under your bed RIGHT NOW!

Heh, meet the new authoritarian masters of the internet:

(the brackets mess up that link, copy and paste to meet your new overlords!)
Nightshade, will you be attempting to inform yourself on this topic and reassess your opinion? Or will you be retreating from the field so you can continue to pretend your sources of information aren't ridiculously misleading?
Asking for a friend.

You're right. You'll know the signs when the chemtrails start to increase and the water changes color. You'd better get yourself a litmus test kit if you notice it. If it turns light green the government started putting drugs in the water, and the only way to stop yourself from being subjected to sharia law is to use a GMO detox kit.

Now Republicans are changing their position that this is a big giveaway to other countries. Why are they now so worried after previously pushing to cut funding for it?
EDIT:
Isn't it ironic that name of one of the Republican groups that wants the U.S. government to maintain it's oversight includes a group called "Americans for Limited Government".
I'm going back on my own post because I can't back up what I stated above and for the life of me, I can't find any records concerning the Congressional roll call votes for the
High Performance Computing Act of 1991. I was originally going on my vague memory from that time period, but my memory is probably partisan hazy. I do remember that I was Al Gore who
created and sponsored the bill. If someone can find the info., I'd be interested.
